Re: Toroids
Right handed here. Never noticed it to be an issue winding it any direction. If it is an issue, just wind the toroid 'upside down'.

Re: Hardware tests....SWR measurements
Hi Steve,
Make sure that you're not in practice mode.
When I tried testing my SWR a little way back, I got similer results and wondered if I broke something. I then realised that I had the rig in

Re: QMX Rev 4 Schematics
Ok, I think I found the end of the saga. After a bunch of testing to verify I am confident in the board, I swapped in a 3V SMPS from another QMX I have. Good news, board powers up no issue! So now I'm

Re: Toroids
I would wind them clockwise for many kits, without any negative performance impact that I can discern. If the wires weren't conveniently lined up with holes, I'd simply rotate? the toroid on the

Hardware tests....SWR measurements
When using the SWR measurements in hardware tests I find the SWR reading is very unstable...varying from 1.5:1 to 2:1 in one particular case, this is true even when using a 50 ohm dummy load which

Re: Toroids
I have a crochet hook and rarely use it. I usually just thread the wire through as if I'm using a needle and thread?. I hold the toroid in my other hand.

This is a really cool project. Just finished my QMX+ build a few days ago and I'd be interested in any upcoming group buy.

Re: QMX Rev 4 Schematics
Given my experience with the one resistor, I'm thinking there is another solder joint somewhere in there that isnt happy. I got out the hot air gun and gave the whole board a remelt. Good news,

Re: Sidetone "screaming"
Do you have the sidetone volume set to "Absolute" or "Relative"?? If set to "Relative", I would try "Absolute".
Otherwise, I think a CMC is your only option.? For QMX it can be very small, due to

Re: Cases in the UK?
Hi Jerry, Steve
QMX+ isn't a standard case it's custom made. I designed the enclosure to
match the dimensions I needed for QCX+ then inherited that to QMX+. The
extrusion isn't unique to QRP Labs,

Re: Cases in the UK?
Nice quick cheap source for a good quality case, very close to the QMX+ case in all respects.
I measure the QMX+ case at 143.7mm front to back, the Amazon box claims to be 150mm.
Could be an error on
