Re: QCX
This is what I¡¯m looking for! ?I have a spare 40m QCX, and would like to change it to 15m. ?Is is simple as changing the windings on the toroids, or something more involved? ?I was planning on

Re: QDX V4 after changing out the finals with 4 new transistors noted the unit dont seem to receive any Ft8 Signals but does TX at the full 6W
The band filter for RX is switched by IC3. The LPF (RX and TX) is controlled directly by the IC-8 microprocessor and a few MOSFets. Hint 12V is really 12V, use a meter to verify that, or risk another

Check your computer clock, it MUST be accurate to within a couple of seconds. The filter switching is tested when you do the filter sweeps. The 20m filter does not look good but it works and is known

Re: Balloon over Canada
The Times commented on it this morning. Unlike LEOs the balloon can loiter for long periods of time. If you read (for example Jacobson¡¯s book Area 51) about the development of the stealth and spy

K It would be easy to change height by putting more gas in the envelope to go up, and of course releasing it to go down. However in a sophisticated ballon with a relatively heavy payload and solar

Re: Balloon over
The USA has spy satellites spinning round the world gathering intelligence and are worried about a balloon , unbelievable.

Ron, If I was only closer, I would us an AM modulation on my 100W laser and see if I could bounce that off of the ballon. :)

Re: Balloon over Canada
Missed opportunity? I wonder if from the ground, last heard it was at about 60K feet, if the payload has as much reflective surface as the first communications satellite, Echo 1. Its too far from me,

Re: QDX not receiving after replacing blown transistors
read the comments in this thread. many postings have indicated units that have been found to have NO RFI problems ... the ones I recently posted are perfectly clean in my experience. w2jc

Re: QDX not receiving after replacing blown transistors
These DC-DC converters look interesting - is there any rule for figuring out which ones are going to generate RFI and which ones would be clean? Or is it just a case of pot luck then cover the wires

Sounds like a job for our newly created Space Force to have fun with a goal of bringing it down safely? over US territory and give it a good examination.

RESOLVED: Turns out IC4, the FST3253, was the culprit. Thanks to everyone how responded and helped out. Its a testament to how awesome this group is. -- regards, Bryan, N0LUF

Re: Corrosion on IC pins (QCX+ build)
Thanks, Cliff, for the heads up! This is the plus version but I¡¯ll try to be conservative with the voltage. I tweaked the BPF a bit more: took a winding off from both L3 and L2 and this gave me more
