Re: QCX Mini 40m RX birdies
The signals are not heard on other receivers at the same operating position. So I think I can rule out QRM. They are not below the noise with an antenna connected. I've changed the ref freqs around

Thankyou for the correction Willie, It was not me, it was my kyboard :-)

Re: ATU-100 Case
Nice! Looks like a UK-only thing, but I'm sure there are US equivalents. BTW: It's Gewiss: https://www.gewiss.com/ww/en/products/product.1000002.1000088.GW44205 73, Willie N1JBJ

Re: 4.3 Power output vs supply voltage for QDX-HB ??? #qdx
Hi, Yes, thank you Hans for the kind explanation. It is worth saying here that there are two separate things not correlated. At least to my understanding. 1. The issue with some QDX kits?of a few dBs

Re: QCX Mini 40m RX birdies
Hi Mike I really don't think those are birdies.? I take birdies to be signals generated internally by the receiver itself as a result of mixing products of internal oscillators .? Direct conversion

ATU-100 Case
Looking for a suitable case for the ATU-100?. I have found that a 'Gwiss GW44205' junction box is perfect for the job. Its an IP56 specced electrical junction box that will not only take the ATU-100,

Re: Si5351a issues with frequency resolution (step size) at 144MHz (or even lower frequencies)
Hi Bob Getting a frequency out of an Si5351A is a relatively straightforward thing to do. There are numerous code examples to look at and libraries to use. But unfortunately if you start to want more

Re: Si5351a issues with frequency resolution (step size) at 144MHz (or even lower frequencies)
Bob, There are a few articles written by Hans Summers about the SI551 and the methods used to set the frequencies. They are in the files section and elsewhere on the QRPLabs site. They are required

Re: QCX Mini 40m RX birdies
I calmed down. I thought everything was very nice and good here. But no - there are birds to live with. These birds are typical of sdr radios. If there are already two different frequencies, the third

Re: QCX+ toroid wire length
Gary, I do not think it is there. There are on-line calculators (toroids.inf?) Sometimes I just make one turn, measure the wire and multiply adding some for the ends. 73 Alan G4ZFQ

QCX+ toroid wire length
I may have missed it, but I can't seem to find the wire length I need to wind the QCX+ toroids. The QDX assembly manual listed the number of turns for a toroid and the wire length needed for that. I

Si5351a issues with frequency resolution (step size) at 144MHz (or even lower frequencies)
I'm very confused about what frequencies can be set on the Si5351a in terms of what frequency you ask for and what frequency you actually get. I'm not concerned so much about the actual frequency as

QCX Mini 40m RX birdies
So, I had some time tonight and I sat in front of the TV while spinning the dial on my 40m QCX Mini in receive mode, while connected to a dummy load, noting when I can across a birdie. Here is the

Re: Fried My QDX-HB
After some more probing and troubleshooting, I think IC8 may be the culprit after all. Im seeing a 12.7ohm resistance from VDD to ground and IC8 gets hot as soon as power is applied. Guess its a goner
