Re: QCX+ 160 up and running
Just guessing: Is possible that the current firmware doesn’t support 160M frequencies via CAT command? ?Since the band is “new” maybe there are legacy sanity checks on the frequencies that

Re: QCX+ 160 up and running
Julian,
I would not try to operate any other band. It is just that 160 m seems to be the only band, where Cat does not work as it should.

Re: Where do I download instructions for the QRP Labs Z-Stick ?
Had the same problem
The simple solution is to...
... first multiply (centimeters / second) by 2pi
then Z =? (60.129 US furlongs / fortnight) times Resistance

Thanks for reminding me of that.
For some reason I thought that one was done on the Nationwide programme,

Re: Where do I download instructions for the QRP Labs Z-Stick ?
I did try measuring them with a device like yours John, but every capacitor or resistor seems to have a positive reading, so I guess they are all very inductive samples ;-)

Today's Poison d'Avril aren't a patch on the ones from 50 or so years back. Who could forget the BBC's Smell-o-Vision adding smells to TV programs or the Panorama segment on the Swiss Spaghetti Trees

Re: Where do I download instructions for the QRP Labs Z-Stick ?
The impedance stick has the problem that it does not distinguish between capacitive and negative reactance.
I prefer to use scales to compare the capacitor/inductor with a known standard, as

Where do I download instructions for the QRP Labs Z-Stick ?
I recently purchased the QRP Labs Z-Stick for impedance measurements.
Being a cheap ham I didn't want to pay $50 for a Nano VNA, so the $5 (plus shipping)
cost seemed a good purchase.
I've tried to

Re: QCX+ 160 up and running
"Do you mean 1820 is reported when your VFO is set to 1820.2"
No the other way round, VFO 1820 and RBN 1820.2? so it should be + 0.011 %.? So change to 2700297?

Re: QCX+ 160 up and running
Yeah, I knew that it could be commanded for any frequency, but the LPF for a 160m unit would be kinda tight for 80m, wouldn't it?
I'm afraid I don't have an answer for the CAT command issue: I've not

Re: QCX+ 160 up and running
Julian
thanks for your comments.
The QCX is single band 160 but as you probably know can be tuned to any frequency. So if N1MM is put to another band the QCX VFO will follow and on all other bands

Re: Adjusting C1 makes no difference
Both sides are common to ground because the trimmer is in parallel with T1 primary, which is a short circuit to DC.

Bryan,
Here are the power curves for each band:
Based on your measurements, I believe it is working as designed, though maybe a little low at 20volts (36watts vs 30watts).? I would not do anything

Oh dear me no, absolutely not; that little guy is the 74ACT00 - a 5V low power logic device - and it had better not be hot. If it is, then it has failed, and that usually happens because the regulator

Re: QCX+ 160 up and running
To address a couple of those items...
1: The decoder is rather sensitive to the pitch of the resolved tone, in my experience. Aim for 700Hz, if I remember correctly. but experiment. ALso, make sure

Re: Adjusting C1 makes no difference
Oh yes, that's definitely wrong: as you indicate with your arrow, voltages on IC7 are definitely low.
IC 10 is bad too, but let's address one at a time.
