Re: What is on your work bench ?
U4B-27 will be off the bench when the clouds clear and the wind drops. 5.55 is the gram weight of the radio payload, less the antenna, which is about .6 grams... for comparison, a fat house sparrow

Re: What is on your work bench ?
A 1998 U.S. Fender Jazzmaster is on the bench right now for a 3 pickup mod. Not my idea of what to do to an expensive guitar but the customer is always right. Not radio related but at least I get to

Re: QDX order for batch #2 looks like it went through but no confirmation email
Hi Peter You did get an order in, order ID 52563. I got the payment OK. There isn't any problem with your order. We made some changes to the helpdesk configuration yesterday which should theoretically

Re: 10 Watt Linear Amplifier Input power #10W_PA
Ed, this amplifier was designed for the QSX which isn't available yet. It's gain is actually 26 dB, not 22. Subtract 26 dB from 10 watts out and the input is only 25 mW. I have one in a homebrew

This is a challenging area, because I feel like part of the beautiful innovation that Hans has gifted the community with is simplicity.? ?We could likely add small things forever,? and so the cost

Re: 10 watt amp bulid
Two thoughts: - terminate the input to avoid any RF coupling issues - be aware that heating of the IRF510s will cause huge bias variations. Make sure they are firmly coupled to the heat sink 73 --

Re: QDX Query II #troubleshoot
Hi, I looked at your 20dB 5W attenuator and I can confirm that the ceramic Vitrohm power resistors (marked VTM) are indeed wirewound. I've had a lot of them in my junkboxes through the decades :) They

10 Watt Linear Amplifier Input power #10W_PA
I have ordered and should receive a 10 watt linear amplifier kit sometime this week. Since the gain is approximately 22 dB, I do not want to overdrive it so I was wondering what the maximum input

Re: Glad I didn't get a QDX!
Perhaps in the future a QDX-HP (High Power) is in order with a built in PA that does the band switching? ?I wonder what the market would be for this, since realistically I rarely run digital modes

Re: 10 watt amp bulid
Terry, As I understand the circuit, the bias pots are only setting a DC voltage to the gates of the PA FETs. First thing to do is to give the circuit board solder connections a close inspection.
