QDX On The Air
As noted in my other thread, the QDX is on the air! I built it for 12V operation, which means that T1 is wound for with two turns on the secondary instead of 3. I powered up the radio with my 12 V

Re: QDX
I have bought a few of these cables from Monoprice with the 5.5x2.1 connector on the end: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=6880 They're about 10 inches long. I put PowerPoles on the other end.

You might also check www.Powerwerx.com. This is where I get my Power Poles and other DC wiring goodies. They do have pre assembled coax connectors that you are looking for. 73, W3AL, Alan

Clint, Yes sir and I did get your previous email as well thank you very much for responding. So you still used the ICOM? And attached the Prog rock to that? Would there be a way to just wire the

Hi, After mentioning this some time ago in this very forum, I happened to write about this very topic here: https://ka7oei.blogspot.com/2018/10/using-qrp-labs-softrock-as-crystal.html 73, Clint,

Hi Steve, thanks for the input regarding supply voltage to the output stage. Yes, I did just check that per Hans' suggestion. Q6 is fully saturated, less than a 10th of a volt drop at key down. L4 has

Have you checked the waveshaping circuit - Q6 to make sure full voltage is being applied to the power anp? Have all changes along the way been implemented for the transmit chain? (Power Amplifier

Re: strange issue with 20m classic; ideas invited
Thanks for that, Hans: it's easy to check, and yes, I can check it against my 20m classic which delivers in excess of 4.5W at 13.8v, and I built that before I'd learned about peaking the coils. That

Re: strange issue with 20m classic; ideas invited
Hi Julian What is the voltage at the top end of L4 during key-down? I would say it should be 0.7 or so below the supply voltage. But it would be safer to make a comparison against a known good QCX if

Re: calculating L1 - L3 inductance #20m #40m #toroid
Drop a turn off of them. If you have a NanoVNA it's pretty easy to measure the inductance even on those low uH inductors. Just match them. Spreading and bunching the turns might be able to do it too.

Re: calculating L1 - L3 inductance #20m #40m #toroid
Nope, don't worry about it: reasonable & practical variation in wire diameter won't make a significant difference to inductance. Winding tightness and variation in the core, turns spacing, tolerance

I failed to mention this, but where you have to be careful is on boards with parts on both sides. Typically a board house will run these through a pick and place and wave twice. If done right, the

I'm thinking about rewiring these inductors using 28 GA magnetic wire instead of what was supplied with the kit by Hans. What size wire is Hans using for his coils? In other words, I'm looking to

Hi, The box stores are convenient if not always useful. I also use the "beyond help" line. When I tell people in the *real* hardware stores about my plans for abuse they are intrigued, not ruffled.
