Re: Newly QDX - First Checks - Question about Power Out
Greg, this looks now just like a decently strong LB QDX, I don't think there's anything to worry about, especially if you don't plan to use 60m. Enjoy! -Nate N8BTR

Re: Error in 5V SMPS diagnostics
Good ideas Ludwig and Stan, I'll try adjusting the values in the 22k - 22k voltage divider that generates the ADC_5V output.? Perhaps provide some drive from the PWM_5V signal, then the ADC_5V signal

Re: Automatic Antenna Tuner, Internal Battery with a charger and built-in speaker for QMX+. Open Source.
Hi Sardar, Cal, I might be wrong, but my understanding is that the VCC (5V) used on the Companion board and ATU is sourced from the SMPS on the QMX+ main board. From the G6K-2F-Y datasheet for the 5V

Re: Component challenge #QMXplus
I got the C542/68pf cap from a UK seller on ebay so it's hopefully here within a week or two. Toroid winding is the next step :-)

Dangers of wall warts.
I have come to dislike the tiny wall warts as they contain switching supplies that are noisy. The heavy transformer based ones are very quiet but I find that they are often very unregulated and many

Re: Component challenge #QMXplus
I suppose the ideal might be to use exactly the right iron on each joint, but hardly seems worth the trouble. It is a good idea to have two irons if you happen to have two hands, makes it easy to

Hmmm, no excuses! Scope set to x10 and it looks like I've managed to switch the probe to x1 before testing. Thank you both so much for the help, greatly appreciated. Still no output so moving on to

Re: QMX+: How to "fix" vertical toroids to the pcb
Hi Don, I will try with hot glue(as Ivica suggested), it seems somewhat the best compromise for having the toroids not bending (I don't anticipate any extreme abuse) and if needed I could still think

QDX - Extra Capacity on the 5V supply?
Quick questions for those in the know . . . QDX Rev 4 - 9V build, 9V power supply. Can the 5V power supply/rail safely sink another 31ma? I think there's room in the QDX for a small, DC 5V, 25mm

Re: Newly QDX - First Checks - Question about Power Out
Thanks for the follow-up Nate. I believe I agree with you about the QRPGuys meter - especially on 30M AND 60m. I reran TX tests today with my Elecraft DL1 dummy load and measured via DMM using: -- a

It is likely that to obtain optimum results you may need to use a different tip, temperature or both for the grounded end of some components.? I do rework/prototyping for my clients and I will often

The only tougher colors to match are shades of white, metallics are a nightmare as well. (Former body/paint shop worker). Brady make P-Touch tapes in white-on-clear, which looks surprisingly good when

I would not make any blanket statements about wall warts vs any other form factor, it's what's inside that counts.? We used thousands of fairly inexpensive wall warts at work some 20 yrs ago with
