Re: QLG2 GPS unit 1 second slow
Thanks Rick VE7TK: The data on the Rxd & PPS pins appears to be in sync with the QLG2 display as transmissions of the modes I have used start 1 second after they are 'expected' (eg: WSPR, QRSS,

QMX Semi-QSK
I just got my new QMX and like it a lot. First of all, I'm the most non-technical user of the QCX/QMX products, and the firmware update to the latest version was a snap. I wasn't sure what to expect

Re: Troubleshooting NO FLASH DRIVE
I'm far from an expert, but 160ma current limit is pretty low. If it was mine I'd try at least 200ma and I think most use 250ma. May make no difference, but IMO it's worth a try. Many stories of bad

Re: QMX Volume Control Issue
Well, I pulled it apart and checked things out under my microscope. Didn't find anything that stood out; re-heated one connection of the encoder to its board, but still no change. So at this point I'm

Re: QMX Volume Control Issue
It may not be the encoder. Recheck all the pin solder connections and the header connections for the control board and the mating header on the main board. -mike/w1mt

Re: QMX Volume Control Issue
Paul, thanks for the heads-up on getting PuTTY working - that fixed it for me. To that end, I fired it up and tested the hardware - sure enough the left encoder is not working - it shows arrows in one

You used bigger cores in a stack for the voltage sensing transformer. What was the reason for that?

Re: QMX suitable first hf radio
If you are starting amateur radio in CW, and rather do POTA, I think 5W is not a bad choice. A good antenna is more important. My first CW QSOs were from a POTA park, and I called CQ POTA running 100W

See message #66657 ( /g/QRPLabs/message/66657 ) This is a known issue and impacts only the QLG2 LCD display not the data sent to the serial post. -- 73, Rick VE7TK Website:

Hans, thanks for the reference to 5W PA and excerpt. I went to look at the 5W PA schematic. That version uses a complementary darlington like you mentioned earlier. That would have more gain, but also

The QMX is suitable for first time operators who are interested in CW and digital modes. It's not an ideal choice for a first build unless it's assisted in something like a class setting. For
