QCX-Mini CAT
The CAT commands are quite clear in the manual and perhaps they interface with a pre-written APP or program ? The question is, has anyone written something that an old man can follow easily and get

Re: Ideas please
Thanks Steve and Gunnar, I've looked it over and found a couple suspect spots that I've cleaned up. Am back on the air now and we'll see how it holds up. I'm going to run out of the case for some

Re: QMX sidetone lag?? #qmx #sidetone #cw
Thanks Hans The main reason that some feel the need for speed is that most of the DX and many of the nets run at 25 to 35 WPM. If we don't match their speed then they often don't respond. Contesters

Re: QMX low current on Tx
Well, this is no longer the first problem. I started checking things round the BS170s, looking for a difference between the two banks, Was probing voltages, in Rx mode when I saw an ominous curl of

Re: Dire need for a part!
Actually it's still there at $4.99. Just saw it last night when I was preparing an order. 73, Cliff, AE5ZA

It is up and running! C509 is the title and we have a pile of diodes and caps already to keep your inductors company! -- 73 Karl KI4ZUQ

Re: QMX sidetone lag?? #qmx #sidetone #cw
Although I'm not very qrq myself I can't get much above 20wpm on the qmx while on other rigs I can go to 25wpm. I think it's this issue. Thanks Hans for being open to fixing it! -mike/w1mt

Re: QMX sidetone lag?? #qmx #sidetone #cw
Hi all In the original post the complaint specifically was about the lag from hitting the key, to the transmitter RF starting up. At 10ms, I couldn't see why that would be poor in comparison to some

Re: QDX - protection of BS17O PA
Dan, The Zener diodes suggested have about 150% the capacitance of the TVS. The capacitance is measured at zero volts, at 9 or 12V, the capacitance is about 1/4 the value at zero volts. Each BS170 has

No whining, Emory! Old guys rule...IF they can put a QMX together and it works! -- 73 Karl KI4ZUQ

Re: QMX blank screen after initial load
EvanReally appreciate the help. As soon as I read your email, thought why didn't I think of that. Had to take qmx all apart set brightness and it works fine. I am amazed felt sure it would not work.

Re: QCX 50W Amp attenuator #20m #amplifier #qcx
Jim, The IRF510 is? 100V device.? FOr PA anything under 24V is safe as it goes. That may increase power out but the amp gain does ot change greatly. The 2.5W from the driver is likely the limiting

Re: QDX Rev 2 problem
Regarding the use of a Pi 3 that is not a good idea. One of the WSJT-X developers posted a note in the last year or so stating that a Pi 4 does not have enough compute power for FT8. Does it work??

Re: QMX Case fit & finish
i did not encounter this with my QMX build, however,I'm sort of a belt and suspenders guy. So I lined the bottom shell of the case with PVC tape before assembly to avoid shorts. -- 73,

Re: QCX 50W Amp attenuator #20m #amplifier #qcx
Tank you very much for all answers, I will do as advised and keep the attenuator, particularly in the light of the fact that it also servers as a matching network, as pointed to by Bojan.

Re: QMX sidetone lag?? #qmx #sidetone #cw
Perhaps unrelated to the issue originally described here, and completely anecdotal, but with my QMX I've experienced much more lag/oddities/keying errors in IAMBIC A mode than in IAMBIC B mode. ?Has

Hi all. As a CW operator, the more important parameter is key down to start of audio tone. The start of RF envelope can be delayed significantly from the start of the audio tone (even 13 milliseconds

Re: QMX Kit 76444 ordered Aug 14 has the short at Q103 / Q104.
Definitely want to check Q103/Q104. My QMX kit was shipped 8/24, and it had the short. I haven't started building yet, but I did fix the short by using a hot air rework station, and nudging over Q103
