Re: I think my QMX PS boards are toast
both of us taken together: we are 10 years old dear friend! So let us hold hands ;-) Somewhere in this posting group with such a weird search function, there is a splendid thread that might be of use

Re: I think my QMX PS boards are toast
A useful start is to work out what you did as that will predict the problem/damage Was the 12v power supply 12.0 V. ?Or 13.6V ?

Re: Electrostatic discharge precautions
What is worth adding is that while static damage can be immediate it is more often seen in months or years after the accidental infliction. Early CMOS semiconductors could be killed seemingly by just

Re: #QMX volume control, unusual behaviour #qmx
Marek, BPF plot will also look bad if you are on VFO B. Make sure it's on VFO A.

P.S. there also may be a solder short between the upper right corner second and third pins down

Re: #QMX volume control, unusual behaviour #qmx
BPF filter plots look crazy without a 50 ohm dummy load. A tuned antenna won't work since it is only 50 ohm at one frequency.

Re: #qdx Receive OK, but lost CAT Control during first transmit #qdx
This happened to me too, with a brand new, pre-assembled QDX. I got it all configured correctly in WSJT-X settings – tested the CAT there and it worked fine. Tuned to 40m FT8, it received and

Re: No QMX Flash Drive.
Steven, that picture is actually of my handiwork on my QMX lol.? It works fine.? The other picture of Ian's? I'm thinking maybe 5V from the computer is shorting out on the board. 5V USB isn't used

Re: Electrostatic discharge precautions
All of the mentioned precautions are effective, having used most in my 20+ yrs on the company work bench. At home, I'll use a grounding strap if I'm working with something known to be uber sensitive,

#QMX volume control, unusual behaviour #qmx
Hi All. My QMX shows unusual behaviour when turning left encoder to turn volume up or down. It seems that first "click" is opposite what I am trying to do. So, when I try to turn volume up in the

Re: No QMX Flash Drive.
The lower and upper outer pins look like they could use soldered touchup. I added sharpening to the photo (unsharp mask) and you can see it a little better. I would touch up those 4 connections with

Re: No QMX Flash Drive.
Thanks Rick, Understood. Checked the 5V at the QMX from the Laptop and its there. The only Pad which is dull in appearance is the one with the Pad missing and as I say that pin isn't used. There

I use a Joplin Amateur Radio Club launcher. Just add a Zebco 404 fishing reel and a bicycle pump. Works great and very handy when operating portable from parks or at field day. It will launch all

Re: Non-toxic antenna throw weights
I though about what one of the lead(or bismuth) solid metal sinkers would do to my head if it fell on it, and went out and bought a couple of arborists' throw bags, which are leather with shot inside,

Non-toxic antenna throw weights
For many years I have used poisonous lead fishing weights for lobbing antenna cords over tree branches and prominent rocks. That's changed. I now use an oval-shaped 100 g ECOFT<https://ecoft.info/>

Paul, that's correct, the QMX is not powered by USB. Regardless, there will be 5V coming from the computer to the VCC pins on the USB-C pads on the board. Those VCC pads on the board should not be
