Re: QMX low power on 40/30/20 after 20m mods
Worth remembering the PA output is unlikely to be 50 ohms? so a VNA check is useful but don't sweat the details if you're getting plenty of power through it . .? ? ?If not play with the windings

Re: Earphone Impedance
ps . . . Even a 32 ohm loudspeaker works so well on the QCX+5W headphone output I had to put put another resistor in series to keep the volume down . .

Re: QMX low power on 40/30/20 after 20m mods
Jeff, IIRC, Hans said it didn't matter much. His mod page says "swapping the capacitors to correct this mistake (which?I have done, and is implied in the analysis below) does NOT materially improve

Re: QMX low power on 40/30/20 after 20m mods
Jeff, The capacitor values were swapped in an early version of the assembly manual.? If you built from a more recent version of the manual, no need to correct. Walt

Re: QMX low power on 40/30/20 after 20m mods
Just curious, is swapping the caps required? According to "Solution #2" on the site, it doesn't mention about the caps being swapped https://qrp-labs.com/qmx/qmx20m I did the mod but need to find my

Re: New assembled High Bands QDX went into smoke
John, Thanks for the explanations and SPICE simulations. I'm going to study all this. Amazing what I learn from these kits! -- 73, Dan? NM3A

Re: QMX low power on 40/30/20 after 20m mods
I tested my LPF sections with a Nano VNA, and all the frequency plots look good to me.? In fact, the 40m LPF looks to be right at the bottom of the 40m band, but the power output on 60m is 4.5 watts

Roger that, Bill! I am away from the home QTH right now , else a QSO attempt would be made. Maybe sometime soon I will hear and connect with your mWatts level signal!...JZ KJ4A

Re: QDX on 40 meters
QSL, John. I'm seeing 16 reception reports, anywhere from -16 to -23 dB SNR. May shut down temporarily while I mow Maggie's ( 7 y.o. Springer Spaniel ) Klawk Bawl Field...it's an? inside thing :0)

Re: QDX on 40 meters
Well, I've moved to 20m as this will give David & I a better chance for a Q. And, besides, I enjoy a ~ 6.99 dB power increase ! 10 mw out on 40 and 50 mw out on 20. 72, Bill, N4QA

Well, I wish I could rename this topic title to "QDX non-functional" or something like that, since I'm now not convinced it's a firmware loading issue. I searched the forum for EEPROM corrupted and

Good nob, Paul, and a good component selection. I checked the current handling capacity of the 1N4448 to make sure it was adequate...looks good. I may run a sim with it but my first take is there

Attached is a photo of a 1N4448 diode placed across L14.? This diode has half the junction C of its brothers, the 1N4148 and 1N914.? I doubt it matters although it would be interesting to adjust the
