Re: 50W amplifier - 13.8V power supply
Charles, How does the ripple look during large current draw when the TX is key'd up? After responding to Pierre's post I got to thinking about capacitor banks on the output to make the drain

Re: New assembled High Bands QDX went into smoke
I'm relaxed again. Really a good, very good trx. After replacement I could work DX on 17m?. 10 V and 3 Watts. That's enough at the moment. I hope not to kill it again.? I think, the high Band qdx

Re: 50W amplifier - 13.8V power supply
Yup, been there, done that, got the t-shirt, now have a spare unit for my trouble. I’m so used to autoranging power supplies that I never even saw the yellow sticker advising me that it was set to

Re: QDX on 40 meters
I have a QDX-M and after the final PA transistors and IC5 blew, I replaced them. Anyway, I also amended the configuration in firmware and put the 10m QDX-M on to the 20m band (no other changes made so

Re: 50W amplifier - 13.8V power supply
To all, I use 2 Mean Well LRS-150-12 PSUs to power my gear and haven't had any problems except one of them produces a high-pitch WHINE when there isn't enough of a load on it. I have them set to

Re: Kicad Expert ?....
0.1 mm space is a bit tight for the via opening. The pins have part of a mm tolerance on diameter and solder is cheap... Maybe a quarter mm larger diameter to make fitting the part easier... Have

Doh!... Yes, I am... duh sorry for the brain freeze...? I'm feeling better now (grin) Thank you Evan

Re: LunchboxesQCX
Mel, Just as an FYI, with my QDX outputting between 2W-3W (I don't have my test records handy, but I know that it's between those power levels) and a 50W PA built for 20m supplied with 13.8V, I get

Re: QCX+ PTT Question
Glenn, Are you confusing the QDX or QMX with the QCX+?? The QCX+ is a CW rig that can do CW WSPR.? WSPR does not need a computer nor a PTT signal to operate.? It is configured in the QCX+ memory

Re: QCX+ PTT Question
Great! thanks Mike... That makes me wonder how the rig is switched from xmit to rcv when using one of the digital modes?

Re: QCX+ PTT Question
On the QCX rigs the PTT is an output. See the QCX+ assembly manual page for your particular rev board as it changed and you need to use the proper wiring for your revision. -mike/w1mt

QCX+ PTT Question
I'll make an assumption.. the "PTT" jack on the rear of the QCX+ is an input for when you're using a CAT device or some sort of PC software. What I need is a contact closure on transmit, like most

Next version, hopefully pin spacing corrected and also the holes have a 0.9mm size now. I am having an hard time creating the 3D model in FreeCAD, chamfer is not working and the 3d model is

Re: Kicad Expert ?....
Thanks Bob, I will correct it, always willing to learn. I found somewhere else it was a 0.7" spacing, then 0.75" and I probably didn't correct it. For the hole, where did you find it? I guessed

Re: New assembled High Bands QDX went into smoke
Just a point of clarification, the BS170 is not driving 50 ohms. There is a transformer in between that reduces the impedance by the square of the turns ratio. And the turns ratio is the ratio of the

Re: New assembled High Bands QDX went into smoke
The difference between 3 and 5 watts is rather miniscule (for instance, you are copied at -14 or -15 dB instead of -13 dB); why not simply run the QDX at 10 volts?? K2LYV's calculation would then be
