You might be running up the ladder of assumption a lot faster that necessary or prudent. Believing the news sources or government before checking common sense is dangerous. On 2/11/2023 16:53, Bob W7DIT wrote:

I'm still wondering if you have a problem or really there is something strange happening. Why do you think that "I THINK" there is a problem?? The subject/intent of my post has NOTHING to do with my station. I will not be changing ANYTHING in my station because of any responses here. I am not reporting any type of problem. I am not asking any questions about my station that would indicate I think there is a problem. I am VERY comfortable with my configuration, my transmission, and everything to do with my station. The "reporting behavior" that this discussion is about was first reported on a particular radio. But later posts noted that I have noticed the same behavior using several different callsigns with several different radios connected to several different antennas from several different locations, although all within a relatively small area. First, although my TX frequency did not match KK6PR's reported receive frequency (how many of your match exactly), both were within the WSPR window, so anyone else "could have" heard it.? Second, the RX frequency that KK6PR listed was only 3 Hz off my TX frequency.? Do you still think there is an issue with that?? My point in that statement was it wasn't exactly the same - that would be very suspicious (IMHO). ------- Rob KB8RCO |

I just chose the Softrock XTAL that Mark mentioned,? farther back in the thread.? I think I last played with that when I still had wilder problems though. Still nobody responding to my question in the SDRConsole forums...? will give it a bump. |

Played around with the IQ inversion,? strangely,? it didn't seem to invert anything on the QDX, the weird tuning behavior seemed the same or similar.? Went to the RSP2,? and inverted it..? yep, suddenly the CW portion of 40m was higher than the SSB portion, and everyone was on USB...? ;-)
Did hear nice sounding SSB signals on the QDX, once I was able to land one of them in the RX passband. Still having to "chase" them,? moving RX cursor, signal moves away move it again...? finally you get lucky and one is close enough to tune in.? SDRConsole has a movable RX window, controlled with a sliding bar at the bottom which moves the spectrum waterfall window across the band. This, as well as the smaller, highlighted RX window, showing where in the visible waterfall you are listening. They are normally independent of each other,? but it's starting to look like both get the command to get moved, rather than just the RX listening freq gets moved, and in possibly different directions...? At least I think thats what its doing, possiblyn something even more crazy. Best I can figure, and been busy past few days.? Ah well,? more later.? BTW, it must have been late when I started this thread, it should say "...SDRConsole 3.3" |
Re: the future of high altitude amateur balloons
To refer to the second and now the third high altitude object as a "spy balloon" is inappropriate?as there no evidence?at this time that has been released that indicate these latest two objects were in fact balloons let alone "spy balloons".? We will have to wait and see just what if anything of any note is actually released on any of these events. cheers, Graham ve3gtc On Sat, Feb 11, 2023 at 6:53 PM Bob W7DIT <cent@...> wrote: They just shot down the third high altitude spy balloon.? New Hi-band QDX
I had an unbuilt version 3 on hand from July 2022 so I recently ordered the Hi-band kit. (I also got the 50 watt amp kit because I was tired of getting ¡°five-five¡± reports when I check into a cw net with my QCX. Now I feel better ?with the ¡°five-eights¡± I¡¯ve gotten the last two weeks!) ? |

Re: Com port continually appearing/disappearing

I've used several usb cables and the one I currently have is brand new.? the laptop is alerting every time I plug the USB in and I've never had a problem with going into FW update mode so that tells me the DQX is able to communicate via one/multiple USB ports (the laptop has 3).? I did have one 5+min uptime where I was able to run all the audio, RF, and image sweeps and copy them into a word doc to review. I'll have to start the wiggling idea and start checking the board.? My RF and image scans tell me I have problems.

Well mouser.ca seems to have them under part number?512-FQPF2N60C.? ?Can't check their other sites as it redirects to my county Canada.??

Timo,
If you need the part now, I would purchase the original part from either DigiKey or Mouser.? Both have hundreds in stock.? If a replacement is required in the future, then I would go to the new part. The exception of the above is if the cost is less for the IPU60R3K4CE. 73 Evan AC9TU |
Re: QLG2 - Dead
All fixed! I was able to de-solder the USB jack and re-position it to the top of the board. To be safe I put a small piece of blue painter's tape over the small traces that are under the jack. No contact, and the QLG2 now works perfectly. Thanks for the help, once again.

Re: U4B Question - Is there a way to capture telemetry

Hi James Jones
In my neighbourhood the bulk of the commercial air traffic is below 40000' but on occasion, some do fly higher . See the attachment. Most picoballoons with recent 32" spherical balloons usually? fly over 40000' but some could contact a commercial jet and in that unlikely event. The payload on the pico balloon ( the most concentrated mass ) is usually about 10 grams or less but sometimes could be more like 25 or? 30 grams. A house sparrow weighs about 45 grams? A commercial jet weighs 250,000 kilograms or more ( Boeing 777 ) Dave VE3KCL |

Re: QCX Mini power plug anomaly
I have noticed this problem also. I replaced the DC plug on my power supply with another I had in my junk box and it fits much better. I have noticed this in the past - many DC plugs (probably of Chinese origin) are not standard sizing and do not quite fit perfectly. A good fit is needed or you get the intermittent problems.
