Re: QDX shipping to USA, fixed?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Yes, nice kits.? I do JOTA with the Scouts and having a rig under $100, "can" show that ham radio doesn't need to be expensive.? I have a NorCal QRP kit from "years ago" that was also under $100.? The QDX (and similar) are much higher "tech" and maybe something to interest the current youth.?

JOTA is in the middle of Oct, so at 70/week, I will have the kit long before JOTA... (ordered at the end of July)

I am happy to see QRP kits and kit building is still going strong.?
Spread the "art".?
My first SW radio was a tube kit in the late 50's..? (thank you, dad)

Peter,

This reminds me of just once when I tried to open a gigantic file.
A few of the 6? instances of WSJT-X that I run stopped with maybe a similar warning.
What I'm saying is was the PC temporally overloaded?

The two other things are a selectable LPF so I used a 40m LPF from Hans, put a dpdt switch after the coupling capacitor and cut the trace between the original LPF and the antenna so the dpdt switch switches between LPFs. The original is still on the main board, the second one on its own little board is hot-glued to the bottom of the main board.

The second thing is that the class E amplifier is band specific because of the tuned circuit of L1/c30 so I put two versions on a small separate board and can choose between them with a second dpdt switch. To switch bands involves selecting the preset memory with the qrp CoA for the band of interest then switching in the appropriate PA tuned circuit and LPF.?

It works brilliantly and I'm planning to write it up for the next gqrp Sprat.?

Whilst on this thread no one has mentioned the mcHF.? I've got one and I like it, fun to build and fun to use. My reservations are that it draws quite high current compared to my qcx or my kx3 and it's possibly above the target price of the qsx, but still way below any of the mainstream commercial offerings.??

I don't use ssb so a tiny multiband cw radio would be my ideal.? Like a mountaintopper.? My dual band qcx is getting there.? A tri-bander based on a qcx mini will knock spots off a mountaintopper for well under 1/4 of the price.

Cotton shirts will shrink if they are exposed to high temperatures. Dryers are the primary culprit; if you line dry your shirt or use a lower temperature in the dryer it should not shrink much. The Dri-Fit shirts are polyester; they won't shrink.

The mug does have an issue where the ink appears to start to QSY and QSB, in a dishwasher. I have not seen any issue with mugs washed by hand.?

I am not aware of any issues with the shirts,?and I have not had any reports from anyone else. Remember also that there are two kinds: 100% cotton, and dri-fit (nylon). I wonder?which kind you have? I have been wearing some of both types extensively (XL size, dri-fit vs cotton, polo vs T-shirt). Today I am wearing a dri-fit polo. I have not had any shrinkage despite numerous machine?washes. Many textiles are prone to shrinkage and/or colour bleed, if washed at a temperature and/or washing inappropriate for them. I wonder if your shirt had accidentally faced unexpected condx by mistake.?

Re: QDX RF in Shack

aa0jr Jakob

It is not the QDX that creates the problem. The QDX has a 50 Ohm antenna connection like all other transceivers. It is the antenna feed line with common mode radiation that causes the problem.?
- Make sure the antenna is in proper resonance at the frequency you use.
- Have the 49:1 unun impedance transformer outside of your shack. No antenna wire in the shack!
- Use coax between the unun and the QDX. Its length should be at least 1/8 of the wavelength in use (my experience, not theory) It can be longer
- Use a RF-choke in the coax line, near the unun. Use clamp shell chokes or better a toroid choke.
RF and computers don't mix. Sometimes laptops are more sensitive, sometimes desktops, depending on frequency

Re: QDX 1 MHz Spurs

If I measure my QDX Rev 1 on a TinySA on 20m it doesn't appear to show anything of significance around 1MHz of the signal. setup was running a 6.5v (should be about 1W out or less) on a QDX built for 9v with 40dB of attenuation external, 10dB manual attenuation internal. same 4MHz span as you show. Attached is the measurement.

Re: WSJT-X occasional crash

I've had a few failures that I think are related to Windows 10 doing something with the sound board. Maybe some kind of Windows Update Notice.?
I'm not sure how this borrowed PC (GB-BXi7-4770R) set up for doing updates. But if it doesn't get hung up in transmit mode, it's not a worry.?
Just restart the WSJT-X program and keep working.. :)? I don't expect free ham radio software to be completely bug-free anyways.?
