?The s-meter is useful to give you a millisecond warning to turn down the gain before your eardrums break. I've learned to live without it, but would gladly implement some form of AGC, even if audio-based.?

Can I get your instructions to resolve this?

I do have one of the original kit PCBs. I will email you off-list about it.?

..yes, I am aware that there is a new Ultimate 3S kit available, but I still long for the old kit housed in it ?s plain pepermint box, take anytime anywhere, no frills, no menues to set and display to watch, just push the button and enjoy.

QRSS Transmitter Kit was produced in 30, 40, 80 and 160m versions from May 2010 onwards. The kit is no longer available and the following information is provided for information purposes only.

Re: FT8 for U3?

Hi Trueblue,
thanks for the update. I did try a beta version (v3.13y) over a year ago, mainly for the 'potentiometer tune' modification fix, and wondered if I had missed a follow-up. However, there was no FT8 option then.?

No, he hasn't.

I've been following this since 2017 and the current state of affairs (as I understand it)? is that Hans is still intending to do the FT8-capable firmware update, but:

1:? He's still fully occupied with getting the new kit out, and...

2:? He ran into a problem getting FT8 to run, which stopped a relatively easy firmware upgrade, though...

3:? A user devised a recent fix for the problem, which Hans tested and found to be working fine, and...

4:? The user got a free QCX kit which...

5:? Puts the U3S firmware back on the to-do list after the new kit is released.

Corrections and updates welcomed.

Great rig and clever box designed for it too.

But I'm another who also have the disappearing S-meter feature! It seems to disappear when various things in the menu are changed. I know it's not calibrated, but it's good to see it flicking up and down - at least when it's there! On-Off usually brings it back, until I change something else. :(

Geoff, the key word in your response is "If".

Re: Easy lithium battery for QCX

?KE0GYC,

That battery would not be good for QSX (10W transmitter), the battery protection would likely
kick in at RF peaks and shut it down.? Also full charge its 12.8V but average voltage during discharge
is 11.4 and that would limit power out and have other issues.

The ideal lithium pack for QSX would likely be a LiFePo4? 2P4S in the 4000 to 12000 mAh range with
a full charge voltage of 14.6V.

It would be good for QCX.? IT would be a ok pack for radios like FT817 though 2200mah is not much?
run time.

That pack is for the RC transmitter so the max current is much lower than a battery for cars or planes.

Allison

Yes, those R/C battery packs are very useful and readily available at your local Hobby Store along with the chargers.

Re: Kit shipping

I have explained this on and

The shipments leave Turkey and the last event in the tracking indicates that it left Istanbul.?

Thereafter, in most cases there are no further tracking events until the package clears customs in the destination country. The amount of time required for that can be very variable. Depending mostly on the workload of customs.?

DHL, TNT, FedEx etc would indeed cost upwards of 50 euros ($60) and I cannot see that it can be worthwhile paying that amount of shipping, for kits which generally cost less than this.?
