QCX 1.00d firmware upgrade failed
Good morning Hans, After upgrading my QCX firmware T1.00d to T1.00g, I get the message "Use original IC!", and flashing back to original T1.00d does not seem to work either. Well, I am using the original IC, but I suspect that the upgrade has overwritten some essential settings? Can I get your instructions to resolve this? Regards, Guido |
Re: Looking for a QRSS Transmitter Kit

Looking for a QRSS Transmitter Kit
Hello,
I am looking for an old, long retired "QRSS Transmitter Kit", no matter in what shape, no matter what band; even a naked PCB would be great (hoping that somebody else from the group will help me with the "professor" for it). Thank you! ..yes, I am aware that there is a new Ultimate 3S kit available, but I still long for the old kit housed in it ?s plain pepermint box, take anytime anywhere, no frills, no menues to set and display to watch, just push the button and enjoy. 73 de Razvan DL2ARL at qsl dot net QRSS Transmitter Kit was produced in 30, 40, 80 and 160m versions from May 2010 onwards. The kit is no longer available and the following information is provided for information purposes only. |

He's still fully occupied with getting the new kit out, and... 2:? He ran into a problem getting FT8 to run, which stopped a relatively easy firmware upgrade, though... 3:? Great rig and clever box designed for it too.
But I'm another who also have the disappearing S-meter feature! It seems to disappear when various things in the menu are changed. I know it's not calibrated, but it's good to see it flicking up and down - at least when it's there! On-Off usually brings it back, until I change something else. :( Ian |

QSL, Bill & Joe.
Geoff, the key word in your response is "If". The simple fingertips test at Q1,Q2,Q3 during prolonged key down says there is nowhere near such power being dissipated by the finals...they are, in fact, quite cool. 72 / 73 all, Bill, N4QA |

Some people like to tinker. I know I like it. Making those QCX radios work on other bands falls into that category. My own preference is to start with a multi-band radio when I want a multi-band radio but where is the challenge in that? I suppose that is why I am waiting for the QSX :) 73, Bill KU8H On 4/16/19 1:46 PM, geoff M0ORE via Groups.Io wrote:
If your transmitter output stage is generating a few Watts but you are seeing only 200mW output after a LPF designed for a lower cutoff, then you should be asking yourself " Where is that surplus power going?" The answer I suspect is as heat in the output transistors. If you need to operate at a different frequency than the original design, then re-configure the LPF. --

We already know when Christmas. We get the excitement of anticipation with these deliveries. I think I saw a shadow move...maybe my shipment getting close :) 73, Bill KU8H On 4/16/19 10:39 AM, dwinflorida@... wrote:

Re: Easy lithium battery for QCX
?KE0GYC,
That battery would not be good for QSX (10W transmitter), the battery protection would likely kick in at RF peaks and shut it down.? Also full charge its 12.8V but average voltage during discharge is 11.4 and that would limit power out and have other issues. The ideal lithium pack for QSX would likely be a LiFePo4? 2P4S in the 4000 to 12000 mAh range with a full charge voltage of 14.6V. It would be good for QCX.? IT would be a ok pack for radios like FT817 though 2200mah is not much? run time. That pack is for the RC transmitter so the max current is much lower than a battery for cars or planes. Allison |

In contrast, i just placed an order with a Swedish supplier, standard post, and 2 days later, it is already in the US. I think its a high compliment to Hans and his products that we're all waiting at the front door hoping today is the day the postman brings us our goodies, lol. |
Re: Kit shipping
I have explained this on and The shipments leave Turkey and the last event in the tracking indicates that it left Istanbul.? Thereafter, in most cases there are no further tracking events until the package clears customs in the destination country. The amount of time required for that can be very variable. Depending mostly on the workload of customs.? DHL, TNT, FedEx etc would indeed cost upwards of 50 euros ($60) and I cannot see that it can be worthwhile paying that amount of shipping, for kits which generally cost less than this.? 73 Hans G0UPL On Mon, Apr 15, 2019 at 4:38 PM joe price <joeprice@...> wrote: ?I received my QCX kit it a couple of weeks which I ordered on 3-16.
