Re: 2 x 20m WSPR/QRSS balloons launched back to back
WD4AH was receiving both payloads well today. No GPS put one transmitter nearly right on top of the other when it should have a 2 minute separation. Interesting to say the least but at least they are

Re: 2 x 20m WSPR/QRSS balloons launched back to back
Both flights are identical...too bad the GPS is not working on the first that was released, but knowing where the second one is will give a clue if they are heard tomorrow. Few spots all day today as

Re: QCX-SSB: SSB with your QCX transceiver
The Teensy 3.5 and 3.6 have floating point processors which might help. Jack, W8TEE

Re: QCX-SSB: SSB with your QCX transceiver
Most of the computations are in 32 bit floating point. Doesn't really matter that it's an 8 bit CPU if the computations can be carried out at the required 8khz rate. ? Primary limitation I see is the

Re: QCX-SSB: SSB with your QCX transceiver
Yes, more jitter with fractional output dividers, but not as much as you might think. If we mostly care about maintaining RF phase accuracy over millisecond long intervals, then we may be better off

This is pretty cool to watch. ?Looks like maybe it's getting tossed around up there and not making a little bit of progress.

Hi Alan, Many thanks for bringing me up to date with materials used for thermal imaging lenses.? I am amazed at the low prices of the Chinese lenses.?? Richard G3OTK

Re: New QCX 20 - looking for sanity check on transmit powerplease #qcx
Hi Richard, Zinc Selenide is the preferred lens material for 0.6-22 micron use, very widely used as the focus lens in CO2 gas lasers at powers <100W or so. Ge only has a range of 2-12 microns in

Jerry, The cameras that you mention with the IR filters removed are not suitable for thermal imaging.? The reason is that silicon becomes transparent above a wavelength of 1.1 microns and so has no

Re: QCX-SSB: SSB with your QCX transceiver
Jerry, The problem is not that alone.? This design gets a amazing about from the 16mhz 8 bit CPU. When you round the results to 8bits you get truncation and rounding errors so 1/256 is not a great

Re: QCX-SSB: SSB with your QCX transceiver
If we use a fractional output divide and leave the VCO parked (as done on the uBitx), the change in frequency is instantaneous?and thus we might reduce the phase errors somewhat. Worth trying, but

Signals are VERY BAD...something not right...still guess bad components. These builds are routine for me and these are just bad. Dial freq for both QRSS and WSPR - 14.09560 USB QRSS just under

2 x 20m WSPR/QRSS balloons launched back to back
There are presently 2 x G0UPL (ID) WSPR/QRSS balloons for 20m band in progress as of a few hours ago. QRSS uses ID of U3S followed by grid/altitudes in meters. Both share identical transmission

Another interesting use of IR thermometer is to check the relative temps of the BS170 in designs that use multiple 170s.

Re: QCX-SSB: SSB with your QCX transceiver
Guido's low level i2c_SendByte() uses bit-banging, that code could be considerably tightened up for speed. I suspect 800khz is a measured figure for that particular code, and may not be?the maximum
