Re: 1pps signal level requirements on Ultimate QRSS Beacon
Hi Tony
You can use a different 1pps source yes. "Use GPS" must be ON, yes, in
order to take account of the 1pps connection.
If you use a 1pps signal from a non-GPS, the transmission frequency

Re: 1pps signal level requirements on Ultimate QRSS Beacon
I looked at units like that one Leigh, but I don't see how they can be
interfaced to the MCU without reprograming it,whivhnis way beyond my
experience. Thanks for the suggestion though. I have a gps

Re: 1pps signal level requirements on Ultimate QRSS Beacon
Do you have enough pins left over for a DS1307 I2C RTC module? They are
$5-$10.

Re: 1pps signal level requirements on Ultimate QRSS Beacon
Hi Tony,
The way to find out if the 1PPS is working is to select TEST mode and
wait a little time. You should see a frequency counter display which

1pps signal level requirements on Ultimate QRSS Beacon
I've been experimenting with other means of inputting a clock signal to the MCU on the Ultimate QRSS Beacon without using GPS. I have a couple of questions for Hans or Stephen, if they have time.

Re: Ultimate QRSS kit firmware update
I'm also on V. 1.00, it's built and just needs to be boxed and GPS added as I have found the standard internal clock loses about 2 seconds every 12 hours so for WSPR it will benefit from the addition

Re: GPS recommendations
LOL - only joking. :)
I've been messing about with a 'poor man's' time reference, just for a
lark. I took an old cheapo quartz analogue clock apart and combined the
coil outputs to make a 1 htz

Ultimate QRSS kit firmware update
Hello all Ultimate QRSS kit builders,
As many of you know, unfortunately a few bugs crept into the original
firmware version on the chip. Steve G0XAR and Hans G0UPL were mortified
that these bugs

Thanks for the post. Very useful contribution.
We have discussed deriving the 1pps by taking the time from the arrival of
NMEA sentences from the GPS, which in some cases is done every

In addition to GPS, there are several other ways to obtain a 1 PPS clock signal.
