Re: #clock firmware development request #clock

There have been a number of clock feature requests over the last year. Yours is another good one. So far no word from Han's...

I would have thought you would have to be very unlucky.

Acts the same with either processor. Have a bit less than 5 volts on pins 7 and 20.
Is it possible to do a complete programming with AVR USB programmer?
Yes. Do NOT erase the EEPROM section of the ATMega.
If the programming is not at fault you gain nothing.

I suggested the swap because it is a quick and easy test.
As it still does not work, I would now invest more time thoroughly
checking other options.

Re Pins 7 & 20.
How much 'a bit less than 5 volts' ?
Enough to imply excessive current draw ? assuming not.....

Note, it is the relationship between the rise time at switch on of these
two pins that is critical. As a quick and dirty test strap them together
with a shorting link and then power up the QCX to see if it makes any
difference.

Re: My latest QCX 40 problem...

Jim,
Check the driver transistor that's right before the finals. It can take a beating if the finals fail.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

All I can say is the propagation on 80M WSPR last night was the best that I have ever experienced.

?

I was heard by 91 unique stations during the period from 0000z last evening to 1150z this morning.

?

The highlite of the session was being heard by my good friend David ( VK2DDI ) in Berry Mountain .. 16,926km!!!!!!

?

I was also on FSKCW and was spotted by SA6BSS, WD2ELG, and G4JVF. I wish that there were more of you that would listen for QRSS TX on the lower bands. Winter is coming and

so ?will the good propagation.

?

The QRP Labs U3S coupled with the QRP Labs 5 Watt PA feeding the full size Windom did a fantastic job!

?

Here is the plot for last night.

Re: New Built 20m QCX slight issue , help please

i can not find a peek on the front end capacitor , in fact its fully meshed, so i added 5 extra turns to T1 , still the same, i put a 39pf cap across the variable Cap but again still no peek, best tone is still at full mesh???
Sounds like T1 leads are not correctly soldered.
i can hear some form of rapid pulsing noise
Try turning off the signal level display option.

So I am assuming you have another.

As your post implies the processor clock is running and the LCD has
correctly initialised.

Historically, in the early days there had been the odd ATMega slipping
through which the programming had not taken properly.

Perform a processor swap-over with your other kit, quick and easy to do.

Re: RD15HVF1 transistor Mod

Hi Alan,
Yes i had looked at these previous threads and found them most interesting and i will follow them more closely.
I think i will have to purchase a second U3S & PA? so that i have one for tinkering around on VHF and one for HF.
I was not expecting that sort of output I would be happy with 5W +.
i would be interested to see what other members have done.

I¡¯d agree, lead free is not as nice to work with as leaded but we don¡¯t have to use lead free here unless we are building things for sale so it¡¯s perfectly acceptable to use Pb/Sn and still legal to buy.?

Hi Stuart,
Check out the past threads, there are a few.

To start you off, the latest I recall is /g/QRPLabs/topic/24236390#25831
It starts off about the U3S at 2Mtrs and then introduces some information on the PA, at least one other contributor is using the Mitsubishi FET.
Just don't expect to see 15w out as it stands.
Remember the PA kit was optimised for HF use,
so expect to have to change the frequency conscious components for it to perform.

I see in the spec that it will handle up to 15 watts.

Re: Dead on start up

Reseated the processor, checked and 20Mhz oscillator is working, did the L5 mod also.
Tim

Looks like you've read the troubleshooting.
Have you checked LCD voltages and very carefully checked the solder joints? Not too much to go wrong between the LCD and processor.

73 Alan G4ZFQ

Re: Receive Module

? Do I also need to set up a Rx Mode in U3S set up?
Vince,

No, park mode is the RX setting.

2.? WSPR Station Settings is asking for PTT mode (CAT, DTR, RTS and VOX).? Which should I select?
None. WSPR is not controlling TX. Set for RX only.

LO is progrock at 4x receive frequency.
Andy,

I've never checked like that, not sure about IC6 but if you get hum before that then presumably it's OK.
You have grounded the RX mute?
Have you checked voltages on T3, C3-6 Q2? Might give a clue.

The receiver picks up the data burst from the qlg1 gps loudly. Where would this get in given no signals are seen or heard when put onto an antenna?
The data is LF pulses, presumably getting into the audio stages somehow.
