Re: QCX-mini LCD top row is blocks, bottom row is blank
jeremy, you should check for continuity between IC2 Pins 2,3,4,5,6 & 27 to LCD pins 11,12,13,14,6 & 4 respectively.? If any are missing check soldering on the LCD, IC2 socket, and pins and sockets on the connectors between the main board and the display board. Those board interconnections are where most of the soldering issues occur. Good luck ... Ron On Fri, Apr 25, 2025 at 1:07?AM Bruce Akhurst via <bruce=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: QMX SSB : Does a Baofeng Micro works ok ?
Angelo,
There are a number of different factories that produce microphones for Baofengs.? I have bought 6 of them so far and everyone is made differently. I had one that didn't work at all on the QMX, so I got the mic element from DigiKey that Hans mentioned on the QRP Labs website, and replaced the one in the Baofeng mic with it. I found that another Baofeng mic worked just as well as that mic element from DigiKey. I did have to cut off the connector and rewire a new stereo connector, so the ring to ground is the mic connection, and the tip to ground is the PTT connection. I just isolated the speaker wires and I'm not using the speaker. It is only 8 ohms anyway and the QMXs work better with at least 32 ohms.

Re: QMX: C107 burned
Since I still had a 5V SMPS board available, I decided to try installing it in the QMX along with the 3.3V SMPS board and turn it on. At first, I only used 7V and limited the current to 200mA. And it's hard to believe, but the QMX works.
This means that the 3.3V SMPS board is not defective despite the burn spot visible in the photo. I was able to scratch it off. So it's probably just a piece of the capacitor that burned and fly off. Then I tried it with 9V and a limit of 1.2A. That also worked without any problems. The diagnostics screen displayed the following:
?
?
I can't see anything unusual when transmiting either:
?
?
The current consumption was 140mA when receiving and 850mA when transmitting.
How do I proceed now? The QMX works, although the resistors on the mainboard without SMPS, control and display board indicate a fault: PWR_HOLD to GND: 242 ohms ADC_3V3 to GND: 9.5 kOhm VDD to GND: 461 Ohm ?
I could explain VDD by saying that there is a solder bridge somewhere that I cannot find. But PWR_HOLD and ADC_3V3 only lead to the MCU. Can anyone explain this?

Re: CW Filters
Hi Sameer,
?
You can use portaudio for streaming IQ samples from QMX on macOS. Just use homebrew to install it. I used portaudio to implement an extio shim layer for N1MM Logger+ on Windows. The portaudio code in it would work on macOS as well.

Re: CW Filters
If you configure your QMX to IQ output then the I and Q channels are output in the QMX sound card to your computer via the USB connection.
?
Personally I use GNU Radio Companion to build signal processing pipelines to play with the output ? ; all the building blocks are there and numerous output GUIs etc.? You can also pipe it into SDR received software.

#QMX+ et
#fldigi
I'm using a QMX+ rev3 with the latest firmware.
CW and FT8 work fine.
I'd like to use FLdigi + FLrig for CW and RTTY with win10.
The reception works, as does the CAT.
I can't configure the TX part. Is this possible?
What settings should I use?
Many thanks for the help.

Further to Stan's comments, The items that I repeatedly access are the Tune function and the CW filter bandwidth. It would be great to have quick access to these. Also to be able to change band down one (or more) without scrolling up through all of the bands, particularly on QMX+ Not urgent, but aspirational for the future.
?
I just had a great time with my QMX+ while on holiday on Mallorca. Many thanks Hans, and team, for such a fun radio!

Re: QMX SSB : Does a Baofeng Micro works ok ?
I am using a Retevis HK008 that I was using for TruSDX previously. It has an integrated speaker that sounds very good.
?
I had to cut and rewire the plug. I don't know how good it sounds on the air, but I made already a bunch of ssb contacts with 5w and no one complained about the audio. |
Re: QMX and digital modes with Win 8 and Win 10
I think it's a good recommendation.
The new release 1_01_004 works perfectly for me on Windows 11 Pro. The USB audio is very limited. I fix this with the "Voice-Meter" program, which allows me to increase the USB volume by approximately 5 to 10 dB. Thanks?

QMX and digital modes with Win 8 and Win 10
Hello! Just wanted to describe the situation with my QMX. I've installed the latest beta 04.
?1. Win 10 laptop has found three COM ports without problem. WJST-X and JS8-Call work fine. WinLink/VARA works OK except one problem: during TX QMX receive very low audio signal via USB cable. So it doesn't transmit any material signal. That is why I have to use speakerphone in VARA soundcard settings for output signal instead. Then everything is OK.?
2. Win 8 tablet with 8" screen. Had to install STM driver and manually "show" to the system where to find drivers for all three COM ports and all three QMX devices that the system saw at the beginning. After that it started to see three new COM ports and one audio device named QMX. Exactly as it is with Win 10 laptop. So I was sure that now everything should be OK. BUT it is not. WJST-X and JS8-Call doesn't work. No CAT control. In spite of the fact that all settings are exactly the same as for Win 10. WinLink/Vara works but with slightly different settings than Win 10 laptop. And it has the same problem with very low audio signal via USB cable. So I use speakerphone in VARA soundcard settings for output signal as well. But at least WinLink works...
Hans, is it possible to make some audio input signal (through USB cable) regulation in menu? In future firmware updates? Or may be you can reproduce this problem with input signal strength and find the solution?
Thanks!
Sergey

Re: Manual tuner selection?
Menu

Swr tune
One more press for go. Puts out the tune carrier for i think 30 seconds.

Re: Manual tuner selection?
I use the same LDG817. I use swr tune mode on my QMX+, and push and hold the tune button on the LDG until the red light goes out, then release. (I.e. a full tune from scratch every time). Works fine.
