QMX Question for Troubleshooting
Is it OK to apply power to a QMX when the LCD and Controls Boards are removed?
If so,? is it then OK to turn on the VDD supply by manually grounding the PWR_ON line at the input connector of PCB

Re: Soldering Station Recommendations
A lot of these properties also depend upon the levels of various impurities being low.

Re: QMX+ 160m problems
Nick, I thought 160m receive wouldn't yet work correctly? TX should work, but IIRC the image sweeps will NOT be correct.

Re: QMX+ 160m problems
Thanks for the feedback Nick, I'm pretty sure I've done those continuity checks but I will look again around L401/C401 tomorrow.

Re: The USB connection is not working.
Hello again, last time I thought that the problem might be in the new generation cables with PD support, so I bought 3 different brands of type-C to type-A cables with data transfer feature and

Re: QMX+ 160m problems
The image and i/q response is due to a firmware issue.? It can be ignored for now (yes on the qmx and qmx+, they both use the same firmware).
Your power out on 6m is very low.? If that band is

Re: Soldering Station Recommendations
Nothing wrong with the "Chinese" part of it.
Most of the home electronics bought in the US is from China, including some very high end equipment.
There's thin and thick solder available in any market,

Re: Computer not connecting to newly built QDX
Could this problem be the board? is so old (Rev 3a) that the Win 10 drivers are too new?
I plugged in all my radios including QMX+ and QCU shack clock. All showed on Device Manager so no change

Re: Best QMX AGC settings?
Hi Hans,
Thank you for your reply.
Initially I tried both lower and higher AGC thresholds, and
found they did not help the situation. OFF seemed to do the
best at eliminating the noise modulation

New AWG #28 - 0.33 wire
Hi Group,
Hans has meanwhile exchanged 0.60mm wire by 0.33mm wire in many kits (same or better performance).
As I have an "old" Rev 1 QMX here to build I had the idea buying 0.33mm wire as it's much

Re: QMX+ 160m problems
Hugh, the QMX plus does work on 160M. ?I think you have a poor solder joint on the band pass filter L401. ?It is tapped, for 160M and 80/60M. ?Your output is good on 160, so the LPF is fine. The

Thanks for the response Alan,
I was under the impression that was the QMX not QMX +, but if that's so I can rest easy? and wait for a firmware upgrade.

Re: Practice Mode
Despite have a good stock of BS170 MOSFETs, I don't apply power to my QMX unless I have something connected to the BNC connector. I'm just too forgetful. Apologies for the unsolicited advice.
