Re: How much heat is "a lot"
Desolder all but one terminal completely. Then heat the last soldered
terminal while pressing the part to the board with your finger. As the
solder melts, you can position the part with your finger

Re: How much heat is "a lot"
OK, change in question: I managed to get the components soldered...but sure enough, the audio jacks are neither of them quite flat to the board. :-(
What's my best strategy for rework? Desolder them

How much heat is "a lot"
I've got to the point where I'm trying to install the rear-panel connectors on my QMX+, and here is where my novice status as a solderer shows the most:
Just how much heat and time is "a lot".

QDX HB 20m RF filter sweep is very high
Just built my Rev 4 QDX HB (12V) after it has sat in the box for a couple years or more. Am doing initial testing. My RF filter sweeps look pretty good for all bands except 20m... there is actually a

Re: 180pf (181) Capacitor Needed
Dear Tisha AA4HA
There is a bubble wrapped envelope on the way to you first class mail with two 180 pf capacitors.
I had two different styles so I sent you one of each.?? I think this will solve you

Re: QMX+ Kit - Capacitor Marking
K indicates +/-10% tolerance.
J indicates +/-5% tolerance .
Nudging the turns on L404 one way or another should accommodate any variations in the cap value.
However since you have already measured

Re: QRP Labs Turkey Workshop?
Hans,
Alas I’m off to Budapest and Rome for October. But I’d be happy to arrange
something later or earlier next year. I wonder if I could tempt Jan and
Alan as well.

QMX+ Kit - Capacitor Marking
My new QMX+ kit arrived in Virginia today, only 7 days after the 'shipped' notice from QRP Labs. Amazing considering that includes a weekend.
Checked the contents and everything is there BUT ..

Re: QRP Labs Turkey Workshop?
I would definitely be interested, however I have as yet renewed my passport, I could plan for next year with the XYL. I would love to explore those ruins.

Re: QRP Labs Turkey Workshop?
Hans, why must you tempt us, so?! :-D
Sadly, I think I'd need a lot more lead time to plan a trip like that from Minnesota! But that doesn't mean I didn't at least peek at flights...

QRP Labs Turkey Workshop?
Hi all
We would like to see if there is interest in arranging a workshop here in
Dalyan, Turkey. Location is 25km from Dalaman international airport (about
25 minutes' drive) with direct low-cost

Re: Still no output on QMX
I am not a power supply expert, but from what I have seen, the efficiency seems to be more related to load current, with a broad peak and a shallow falloff, and fairly insensitive to input/output

If he built for 9V and ran from a "13.8" V supply, would that affect conversion efficiency? In general, how do changes in input voltage affect the efficiency of a typical buck/boost supply?

Re: 3D Printing Source?
Another option is to try your library. Most these days have one if not several 3d printers. Usually incredibly cheap too. It's been a while since I checked but last I saw, ours was a few cents a gram

Thanks for the toothpick suggestion to clear the lint, I used a Q-Tip with Isopropyl alcohol yesterday working on my QMX build and found a lot of that.
