Re: How much power for diagnostic sweeps
Thanks Ludwig,
I'll have a read of those sections.
Suspect I released "the smoke" last night -- likely the encoders touching components underneath, so probably try and track that down before getting

Re: QMX Rev 3 Low Power Out Problem
I use AWG30 solid wire wrap wire to bring out test points.? I bring the wire out in a looping arc and anchor it to a convenient spot on the board with a drop of cyanoacrylate wire tacking

Re: QMX+ - Soldering Components Leads to Ground Issues
Hi Donald,
Your point regarding smaller diameter solder is interesting. I found the opposite building my QMX. 70% of the build I was using 0.7mm diameter 60/40 solder which ran out. I was working

Re: How much power for diagnostic sweeps
Hello Eben,
you did a lot of work, sorry.
No need to use 12.0 V, also a lower voltage would be ok (>= 7.0 V) and could lower the max current. Maybe the uncertainties of the results are a bit

Re: How much power for diagnostic sweeps
Um, ok...
Assembly manual (1.02)
p3 : low receive 80 mA transmit 1.0-1.1 A
p62 : When you apply power to your QMX for the first time, it is a very good idea to use a lower
supply voltage than you

Re: In praise of the QMX+
My first transmitter was a homebrew 15W Novice CW rig built in 1953 for about $10. I then graduated to a DX-20, then a DX-40, and, when I got my General, a DX-60. Those were great little rigs!

worked on DX-20, DX-40, HX-10 about 1963. My first radio was a Philmore

Hello Geoff,
that was a known issue ( http://qrp-labs.com/qmx/qmxtrouble.html ) (section "Q103/Q104 drains short on the 5V regulator board"), but for Rev. 1 boards. I think a failure at the mainboard
