Re: Keep QMX L401 Loop Intact or Cut into Two Wires ?
Thanks very much Greg for taking the time to write this detailed explanation. I am making the low version with one 15 turn loop.? Thanks to your response, I can now proceed with a bit more

Re: New QMX Rev3 build - no power out...
Thanks, Mike. I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes. My SWR readings look so much like yours and I have no power out at all. Wayne KB4DSF

Re: QMX no initial power up
This is where I am , now. I have removed T501 and T507, but that did not fix my short. I've now traced the short to Q507. All three legs are shorted to each other. Is there a possibility that Q507 is

Re: Keep QMX L401 Loop Intact or Cut into Two Wires ?
You didn't mention which QMX version you are building ... High or low ... But for either version,? any loop(s) do in fact both go into the larger holes indicated in the specific instructions for the

Re: Keep QMX L401 Loop Intact or Cut into Two Wires ?
And forgot to mention - yes, if you cut the loop prior, you have to solder the wires in the same hole

Re: Keep QMX L401 Loop Intact or Cut into Two Wires ?
Hi Bill, Even if you keep the loop intact, after soldering you'll probably have to knip the excess length, so that it doesn't touch the case. If you arranged so that the loop (L401 tap) has optimum

Re: New QMX build displays only squares
It usually means that the power or signal is not getting to the display board. Recheck the connections - it's easy to miss one of the those 16 cutoff connections - must be soldered on both boards.

Hi Bob, It's this one: https://kitsandparts.com/rfamp1.4.php ( https://kitsandparts.com/rfamp1.4.php ) Plenty of output to drive the HW-101 and I see that I erred in m y description as I used the

Re: New QMX build displays only squares
Did you adjust the brightness of the screen? There's a step in the manual for rotating the screw on the left of the display until letters become comfortably visible apart from background. Do you have

Keep QMX L401 Loop Intact or Cut into Two Wires ?
I'm building the QMX and have the L401 installed and ready to solder. The manual says to cut the wires underneath the board and solder. Does this mean to cut the loop into two separate wires and

Greetings all. My first QMX build was an abject failure. I just finished a new rev.3 QMX build and I am able to flash the firmware ??¡á? but all I get is squares along the top line of the

Re: QMX no initial power up
OK, all. Just to keep you informed in the case something gives you an idea to send to me, I am finding C105 on PCB 2 (the 3V3 board) shorts when I install the board. It is not shorted when I remove

Wayne, The zero power out issue that caused me to start this message thread has not yet been resolved on my unit. With some great input from this thread my next step is to pull out T501 (the power

Re: New Rev 3 Hi Band QMX Build - RF Sweep Test locks up the QMX and Tx causes fireworks?
Chris , Here are some scope screens from my workbench. The first is the clock phase pair. The second shows op amp outputs while listening to a 700Hz beat. Of course, if you are hearing nothing, that

Re: New Rev 3 Hi Band QMX Build - RF Sweep Test locks up the QMX and Tx causes fireworks?
John, As suggested, I checked the current draw on IC407 which appears okay at 33mA. Also, I was unable to receive any IQ output via USB and HDSDR (works fine with my other QMX) I've realised today
