Re: QMX hardware tests gives garbage
#qmx
#troubleshooting
This is what I have trouble with. First 80m band looks okay when checking the next band it is random ?And then going back to the 80m it’s also random!?! This is also the case for SWR sweep ?but when I’m trying the Tune SWR menu it works perfectly fine. Appreciate some guidance for this ? Regards Mikael / SM7UDB |
QMX NOT APPEARING AS A USB FLASH DEVICE ANYMORE
Having an issue with the QMX not appearing as USB Flash device anymore on either apple or windows PC. I copied the zipped 1_00_017.QMX ?file into the QMX folder. ?And after the file copied over the ?QMX USB ejected. Now when I connect the QMX via USB to either computer the device is do not recognize. So I have no access to the QMX via USB anymore. ? All I see is this repeating rectangle in the LCD screen.?

Re: QMX and FLDigi - MFSK modes
开云体育Tnxs Cliff, good to know I also found when playing with the TX Shift Threshold that RSID required less than half the protocol shift for it to work properly. Didn't try to run down the reason. Cheers Bob VK2YQA On 20/3/24 15:04, Cliff wrote:

Re: QMX and FLDigi - MFSK modes
开云体育Bob,Yes, but the TxID works FB with the QDX, but not with the QMX until it is fixed in the firmware. Used to work with firmware 006, but not since. 73, Cliff, AE5ZA

Re: QMX and FLDigi - MFSK modes
开云体育There have been a number of posts about having fldigi chat to the QDX, so I assume the following is valid for QMX The modes; They are all basically "one tone at a time" modes. My current QDX config dummy spits with the wider/faster Thor/MFSK
ones because "Minimal samples" (180) is not optimised. The default
480 is way too long. The right number seems to be about 120. I
have Rise Threshold set to around 40 and Fall Threshold to 2 so
that the QDX doesn't unkey during freq shift. The LED/RF was
noisy/shuddering without that. I also had a play with the TX Shift Threshold (default 500milliHz) with view to reducing the slewing squeaks, but had to keep the RSID tones and the ThorMicro in mind, so I just changed it back to default. Keep in mind too that the output attenuator setting should be 0 on fldigi and the sound device mixer at 100% Any PSK, MT63, Hell, OFDM & Throb mode/variant are a no go. Hope you find this useful Cheers Bob VK2YQA On 20/3/24 14:17, N1EDC wrote:

Re: QMX and FLDigi - MFSK modes
开云体育The problem is that you're using TxID when transmitting. Fldigi will do most of the modes, just a few like PSK, Throb and I think one or two others that are rarely used. Thor, Olivia, Contestia, DominoEX, FSQ just to name a few that work FB. The short space between TxID and the rest of the transmission is what breaks the QMX transmit.73, Cliff, AE5ZA

QMX and FLDigi - MFSK modes
I've been trying to get my QMX to work with FLDigi, and had a long and detailed post typed up recounting my troubleshooting, but I think I may have made a breakthrough, albeit one that leaves me disappointed...
The QMX is only able to do single tone FSK modes, correct?? So something like Olivia or Contestia or even RTTY that uses more than one tone at once is not possible on the QMX with the current firmware? This would explain why "TUNE" mode on FLDigi generates an output but as soon as I try and transmit Contestia it cuts out.? I was able to get MFSK32 to transmit but it was not decoding for me, which would make sense... If this is true this appears to cut out the majority of digital modes available on FLDigi, since PSK is out as well... Is anyone operating FLDigi with their QMX, and on what modes? Thanks, N1EDC |
Re: Why is my account Bouncing
Not much info to go on, but there's two known issues where this could happen.
Your inbox is full. If you never delete emails then there's no space for new one. Or your ISP / email provider could be blocking certain IP addresses or sources for whatever reason. That you never really know, could be that something has tripped a filter that assumes all messages from groups.io are spam, or incorrect filtering (common). Don't expect much help from an ISP helpdesk. In practice they either deny a problem or send you down numerous BS rabbit holes. They wil always tell you that everything is fine, no problems,no blocks and then give you "advice" about resetting your router / try another browser / you must have yout firewall misconfigured / there are no black lists / it's your dns settings / wx is affecting your wifi signal. All total bollocks that you are powerless to prove otherwise :-( -- - 73 de Andy - |
Re: QMX output power
Glad to help if/where I can.

Regarding your power out query, my newly built high band QMX is also pushing out about 3.4 to 3.7 Watts on all 5 bands.? The 17/15 pair were originally 5+ and 2.5.? Adjusting the toroids spacing for the associated LPF inductor pair moved the one down and the other up as noted above. The unit receives and sends just fine for me for FT-8 and WSPR,? so I'm a satisfied customer. The query about the knob was to see if the knob was set too close to the top of the case to reliably and firmly 'make' the internal physical contact inside the component. I'm sure if yours is wonky then I'll bet the QRP-Labs folks can help out with a replacement. I got an exact replacement BNC connector in 7 days. A bit pricy for the quick shipping,? but the supposed fault for needing it was all mine. (DOH ... thought I'd created a short that shouldn't be there and had to cut out the original connector because I don't have a pro.level resoldering station. That strong, all metal housing really sinks the heat!? Soldered in a pigtail BNC on a short piece of RG-316 to keep moving forward which worked just fine.) Let us know if/how you make out with the wonky clicker and how your Unit plays on air. 73 GREG. KI4NVX

Re: QMX Hi Band Noise Problem
That's a strong indication, Dan...JZ On Tue, Mar 19, 2024, 4:18?PM Daniel Walter via <nm3a=[email protected]> wrote: One more piece to the puzzle. I managed to lift the Vcc leads to ICs405&406. The noise was unchanged. After resoldering those leads, the signal came through as before, so no harm (I don't think, anyway!) Just another point towards IC407.? |

Just curious. Did you remove the right knob and check directly on the shaft of the rotary encoder? Perhaps the knob was put on a little too close to the base of the enclosure and was not letting the 'plunge' down far enough? Also, what was your setup for the power output testing? Antenna or known good 50 ohm dummy load? Thx in advance, Greg KI4MVX
