Adrian, one more thing about BAT85S...
The current handling capability looks quite adequate as well.

Adrian,
BAT85S should work out OK.
The reverse breakdown is more than adequate. It should never see reverse
bias greater than the 3.3V supply. Also, 10pf is quite

Re: QMX blown power supply board component
Kevin,
If you look at the diagnostic screen you posted in the video, you see that the MPU is trying to turn off the 5-volt SMPS with the 0% duty cycle.? You will need to test the 5-volt SMPS using

Re: QMX blown power supply board component
After some suggestions via PM I tried the leaded capacitor. The QMX powers up and responds on the serial port, so at least that much is working. The cap is too big to fit the LCD board above it, so I

If you send me an SASE I'll send you some 1N4148 / 1N914 diodes. I have
about a million of them (well actually a thousand). Include a folded piece
of cardstock with 1N4148 written on it so I'll know

Re: QDX MOSFET Heat Sinks
Thanks Al!
I'll get the pins/sockets and the TN0110s from Mouser. I plan on doing the protection diode as well... and maybe hot glue on the toroids once I'm happy with them.

If purchasing 1N4148 diodes, also consider the 1N4448 alternative with a lower junction capacitance to have a quantity on-hand for applications where the lower C is beneficial. For NA customers,

Re: QDX MOSFET Heat Sinks
If you have some machine-pin DIP sockets and a Dremel tool, you can cut a
socket into a SIP socket and use that. Also, if you have QDX 3, you can
force a 3-pin socket strip into the PCB. Hans

Re: QDX MOSFET Heat Sinks
Nate,
Here's the Mouser #: 575-3104311441001000, manufactured by Mil-Max. Data sheet:
https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/273/MMMC_S_A0004810559_1-2555780.pdf
I think they provide a good tight fit.

Re: QMX blown power supply board component
I figured out that it's C107, a 470uf capacitor. I have a 10V through hole part on-hand. Any reason I can't put that in temporarily to see if anything else is blown while I wait for a replacement SMD

Hi Jim,
If you’re considering using SOD323 format diode (size to span FET directly) it’s only 1.1mm or 0.04” thick from the info I found for the ones I ordered. So shouldn’t be an issue to

QMX blown power supply board component
This morning I was adjusting the BPF windings on my QMX rev 2. As soon as I inserted the power connector a component on one of the power supply boards blew out (see attached photo). What is that part?

Hi John
I keep on hand some of what we call in England "Blu tack" but I'm not sure
if this name is internationally portable. It's a pliable and mildly sticky
putty. When hot it gets horribly sticky
