Re: planning towards a cautious QMX power-up
Ryuji, Bioenno? 12V, 3Ah LFP Battery (PVC, BLF-1203AB).? I've never run it down below 10v. i could do it by charging a phone a couple times.? it should tolerate a single voltage draw down ok. I

Re: planning towards a cautious QMX power-up
Is that a 3S or 4S configuration? If they sell as 12V lead-acid compatible, that's 4S. LiFePO4 batteries have very stable 3.3 to 3.4V range for the vast majority of the discharge cycle. If the

Re: Switcher boards patched up and running #qmx
I seem to recall a discussion with my friend about dielectrics before I ordered my parts.? His advice was to stick with x5r, which behaves better than Y and Z at lower frequencies.? Perhaps not

planning towards a cautious QMX power-up
Dear "Collective Hive Brain", I have wired my QMX for 12 volts using the old version of the power transformer -Big Binocular-??? I don't have multiple options for power supply, apart from 12v

Re: QMX High swr into 50 ohm dummy load
It is on a somewhat speculative basis (it shows on simulation clearly, not yet tested on bench to satisfy myself waiting for components) but one thing you might want to try is to loosen the solder

Re: QMX PC Connect, Anyone?
It didn't need to have been a struggle. I suggested that a log file would help almost a fortnight ago.? Once you posted a log showing the communication information the problem was identified and a

Re: QMX High swr into 50 ohm dummy load
Here is a pix of my QMX rig.?? I plan to rewind T507. It is a mess now from all the pushing, pulling, wire shifting, etc. that i have done with T507.

Here is a pix of my qmx. ?After all the poking and probing of my qmx, I will rewind t50u.

Re: QDX T1 DMM checks
Reading other model manuals with the similar transformer, Hans mentions infinity ohms / NO continuity whatsoever on those. So guessing my 410K ohms would have been a problem. Either way, I've learned

Re: QMX PC Connect, Anyone?
I think this one can finally be put to bed. QMX is not using the standard Kenwood TS480 AG; command scale which appears to cause a problem with software that uses that command. The developer of

Re: off topic. - 2004 QEX article on a class E Push pull HF amp / 200 W / 2 off SMPS Mosfets
RD16HHF would be nice, it's almost a luxury given today's situation. It is discontinued and what's available now is deadstock (and counterfeits). MRF101 can still be bought easily at 25 bucks a piece,

Check out the Hardrock 50 amplifier.? It uses 4 RD16HHF devices for a solid 50 watts from 2-3 watts drive. They have a 100W upgrade kit which uses one Motorola MRF101. Either architecture would be a

Re: QMX the current is still 0.1A
My QMX also does this, even when connected to a dummy load with 1:1.0 VSWR, as shown by either the QMX or an external meter. Dummy load shows flat 1.0:1 SWR to 30 MHz when evaluated by my NanoVNA.

Re: QMX the current is still 0.1A
My QMX does this also. I have it in practice mode and the P changes to an S when I key. I assumed it was a display bug. I never thought to test if it was actually outputting power.

There are a few reasons why 50W class C/D/E/F all band HF amps are not very common at this time, other than already mentioned in the other thread. 1. Class C/D/E/F amps require faster transistor with
