Re: Blue screen of death U3s

Ok,?
Probed the clock outputs, nothing, pin 13, sc has nearly 5v on it while pin 14 is very low. Pin 18, pll has 3.3v. Possibly Q7 died??

Re: QDX xmit one flash

Thanks for that catch. I changed that default, but I'm still not getting any audio to the QDX.

Re: QDX xmit one flash

Wayne,

On the second screen print, I noted that the QDX is the default output device.? It could be that the system is taking over the QDX audio and not allowing the WSJT-X to access it.? Since I do not have the QDX connected to my W11 PC, I can not see other options for the "Is default for audio" tab.? Try one of those.

Re: Audio level limiting with diodes?

All,

I would recommend patience.? The QMX has a very capable processor to process the audio.? Hans will add the AGC into the software at some point.? This should be much better than the simple diode limiter developed for the QCX.? Otherwise, you must hack a very tight board to add the limiter.

Re: QDX xmit one flash

Here is my setup with the QDX:

Nope.

Re: No receive QMX

?? true

Re: QDX xmit one flash

Wayne,

Based on the TX working with PuTTY, there is most likely a configuration issue with your computer.? I suspect the volume setting for the QDX audio output (Speaker) is most likely the issue.? I am typing this on my one W11 machine to capture the screens.? As stated in my prior email, I do not have a WSJT-X setup for this PC.

Can you verify in the settings that the QDX device appeared on this screen?

Here is the same screen when I add my Bluetooth headphones:

Note that the Headphones are added.? You can then expand the QDX (Headphone in my example) to see the volume settings for that device:

Make sure that the volume setting is at 100%.

Let us know if that solves the problem.

Re: No receive QMX

Okay. Now you know one thing it AIN'T!

Re: accurate time source

One obscure issue with time sync:

I have a cellular internet modem (T-Mobile) and it will not allow most of these time syncs, such as Dimension4, or many others, to work. It will also not allow ftp sites to work.

My work around for this is to use a Personal Hotspot from my cell phone. Even though it uses the same cell network and the same tower, this works, while the cellular internet modem does not- go figure.?

But built in time syncs in Windows and Mac OS do work fine, tho.?

Re: QDX Success story

I read this with interest a few weeks ago and would be interested in Hans' thoughts on a commutating diode across L14 and wondering if perhaps there might be a future revision to the QDX?

Re: No receive QMX

Check the voltage at C406. One is ground the other should be about 2.5v.

Re: QDX xmit one flash

I just tried JS8 Call. I'm still not getting any power out and seeing two flashes on the LED. I also got this error, which I have also seen in WSJT-X:

Re: No receive QMX

Hi Karl,

no, on my board c509 is fitted, sitting snuggly next to R510.

Re: QDX xmit one flash

Hey, Alan. Thanks for the info--you guided me over to it perfectly. It looks like the microphone permissions are set correctly for WSJT-X.

Re: QDX xmit one flash

Hey, Evan. So, two answers:

1: The wall wart says 2A. To be honest, I just assumed 2Ah, I think I just learned something. Thank you!

2: OMG...you got me a step closer!! I get about 5 watts displaying on my analog power meter that is part of my dummy load. This is the first time anything caused the needle to move!! Saying that, I'm still not getting any power out from within WSJT-X and I am still getting two flashes on the QDX' LED. I'm thinking I am still fighting an audio problem. I have no way of telling if I am receiving any audio via the QDX. I'm connected to a dummy load. I don't have an antenna here where I work.

Re: New QRP-Labs product idea? A QMX/QDX based digimode / cat interface?

WB2CBA's post did not include "CAT" - just PTT through VOX.?
If you are just interested in PTT, I'd suggest USB sound cards with GPIO.?
? ? A much simpler (resistor and transistor) PTT solution which is support by most digital applications.

The digirig-mobile DOES include real CAT control.?
With that your computer can control the freq/band and any other settings that are included in CAT commands (including selectable filters, etc.).
Very reasonably priced as well!
Only down side I see is that it appears the sound card input is mono.

I have an old MicroHAM USB Interface III from about 2008 which had sound card and CAT capability.? Not sure they are around any more.
I paid a lot of money for it!?I haven't used it in years.??Gave up on it when Windows stopped supporting the USB driver.
? ?I wonder if newer Windows versions would work with it.?
? ? I'll have to give it a try.

Wayne,

W10 here but try entering "microphone" in the search box.
(Settings - Privacy - Microphone.)
