Re: QMX - smoke - another C107/Q108 failure

I meant only to rig up temporary linear supplies on my benchhello Rick, Hello Hans, this is exactly what I was aiming for myself: a temporary replacement of the smps boards until all other smoke tests have been succesfully passed. Hans: really no offence intended! I am of an older school and do not trust these new-age gadgets piloted by software, not because of paranoia, but because of the fact that they do not belong to my trusted analog world. I find the ideas standing behind the SMPS concept of the QMX most refreshing and innovative: this is the main reason I am glad of having purchased a QMX, without having been in need of yet another qrp toy. But now.. I am sort of discouraged by my own courage and would like to go one step behind into those quiet linear waters I am used to. Not for good, but at least for the first current intake of the fine rig. Afterwards, having thanks to Chris a test checklist for the SMPS boards outside the rig, without danger of damaging the main professor, I would maybe gain some courage and "replace the linear replacement" with it's new age microprofessor controlled switching PS. This is what I meant. You might help by telling me if this is doable or if I am to expect some latch-up phenomena during power-up due to the fact that the 5V rail would come alive before the 3,3V would do. But latch-ups are not harmfull, so if you do not have an answer to this question, just forget it: I will find it out by myself. Yours friendly, Razvan dl2arl? |
Re: QDX xmit one flash
开云体育Check that the QDX audio output in the
PC is on.? I had this with my QMX and it turned out that the QMX
sound output wasn't turned on.
Settings - sound look for the QDX and
check the volume is 100% and not turned off.

OK all. A big plus, but my troubleshooting isn't totally complete, yet. I now can receive and decode! See below for a screen shot. As far as transmit; though, I'm still not there. I can now transmit via the testing menu via putty. I am putting out about 4 watts RF on 20M, but I still cannot get any transmit from WSJT-X or JS8 Call. I have everything in my windows (win11) configurations set to 100%, but still nada. What else should I be looking into?

开云体育Wayne,What did the CAT Test and PTT Test show in the Wsjtx Settings/Radio page? Maybe post a screen shot of your setup. 73, Cliff, AE5ZA

Re: accurate time source
Barb, Documentation for Dimension 4 does not indicate whether it is compatible with Windows versions beyond Windows 7 and 8. Do you know if is compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11?

Re: USB Device not recognized .... another one
#qmx
I have done some more testing and there is power to pin 5 (V_IN) of the Plug-in PCB #1. However, when a long hold of the left encoder is pushed there is no output on on pin #6 of this board. So for some reason Q103 and Q105 are being turned on.
I'll take a look at the PWR_ON line with the scope when I'm back from my birthday lunch -- hi! PS: Somewhere on the group Hans described the power on sequence for the QMX. Can someone please send me the link to that message - thanks! -- 73, Rick VE7TK Website: |

Thanks Rick.
I set the supply to 25mA wholly expecting it would immediately trip at the excess current demand of the QMX. BUT the power supply did not trip nor did the meters move off of the peg. So that indicates that no electrons are flowing from the 9VDC supply into the QMX. -- 73, Rick VE7TK Website: |
Re: QDX 80M Band Sweep Question
Well Charles, I thought I wrote a reply, but I can't find it. I did follow your instructions and found I can adjust the output audio. What I find, though, is I can adjust it to get a full bar graph, but then it dros to about 50% over a few seconds. What might that mean?

Re: QDX Trifiliar Transformer Question
Yes, normal. Look at the schematic. They are all connected.
