Up until yesterday, I would not even be able to FIT a QDX kit on my workbench!!!

Had to replace low pass filter relays on my TT Omni VI+ yesterday. That took an hour, 2 hours to clean the workbench to be able to spend that hour on the TT!!

Have an Heathkit filter board replace to do next, Swan 700cx broken coil, Drake mic jack replacement, cabinet for QRPlabs clock, about 5 Hayseed cap kits for various rigs and several other kits (in boxes).

I don't know when I'll get to the QDX!!!

All fun though!

Re: ATmega328 unavailability due to global semiconductor crisis

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

How about this:? Hahns could certify one of our stateside QRP Labs experts to do chip upgrades and we make the return to him and never leave the country.? I for one have 2 Atmeg328s now and a 3rd on it's way (according to USPS it has made it to the US from Turkey).? So I could even send a uP to the upgrade center in the US and he could do the upgrade on the same chip and return it to me..... no new chip required.? Or, better yet, I can just learn how to do the upgrade myself.? Just thinkin' out loud (something my XYL says I should never do.)

Might work if Hans had an in country partner, but after seeing the fun of getting kits from turkey to UK and other countries, then sending back to Hans I doubt is a viable option

Is there a list of things that will be corrected in the Batch #2 QDX? Will there be an updated manual?
Thanks,

Re: YouTuber who wants to review one but impossible to get

Dave runs and maintains a video series on passing the licensing exams and it's by far the best one out there. I don't think he makes a dime for the thousands of hours of hard work he puts into making his licensing videos. I used them to pass my Extra-Class license. He is also a monthly columnist in ARRL's QST magazine and isn't some random U-Tuber with a shaky cellphone camera and poor audio. A lot of novice hams who watch Dave's videos might not have heard about QRP-Labs or have built their own radio gear or tried digital modes yet, so I think helping Dave out with getting a QDX would be a good thing for the whole community.

Yes.

Does mankind need more of those videos?

No.

99.9% of these YT videos are so basic that my cat would feel insulted by them.

Low level drivel for brain dead people.

At least with the like of G0UPL or VK3YE you get decent and original content instead of baby talk.

Re: What is on your work bench ?

An almost finished 50W PA and a custom enclosure for the PA and a 1st run QCX.? Waiting on the QCX unit to return from service to complete the project.

A mock-up of an RF Finder and an old non-working 2M radio I'm going to try to repair for a friend.

Also 3 new guitar effect pedals for the youngest's pedalboard.? Nothing like replacing those name-brand pieces with custom built ones.

Re: YouTuber who wants to review one but impossible to get

I was able to order one QDX in batch #1 (has a hardware problem) and I was able
to place an order on batch #2 - so why complaining: 'can't get one' ?

In Youtube are already countless 'reviews' (???) of QDX, Look at the headlines,
most are like in the tabloid press. And some try it like in TV: part #1, part #2 in the
hope to gain more views and clicks and so on. Are they done by 'clickbaiters' ? or
self-promotors ? Does mankind need more of those videos?

QDX manual can be downloaded and has an more than excellent content. Any one
interested will gain real info by this manual and not just seeing finger or screwdriver
poking views with sometimes horrible audio. So, what new secret could be told about
QDX ? or is it just "metoo in Youtube" ?

Sorry - I had to say this...

The one and only video that makes sense has been done - and it has all the infos -
it's by Hans, G0UPL, - the designer.

David,
Nice touch on the "harmonics".?

Thanks everyone for making such great comments to our friend, Hans.
I really enjoy reading each comment and know it is probably the best medicine for our friend Hans.
I can only say to Hans publicly, I am grateful.

A funny thing about the rare breed called "Amateur Radio Operators".
We are use to overcoming immense obstacles that others walk away from, for the good of all.?
This time in world history is no different.
Many of the greatest accomplishments have happened during the greatest time trial.

To all on the forum:
We wish you Merry Christmas

Re: Raising a ticket

Hi Jim
That is exactly how I did it .
It all went through but expecting an email I did not note the #.

I have tried twice through view existing tickets to send my tracking id (over the space of two days).

Not emailed Hans yet I will do it Tuesday.

Basically in my haste to get my hands on ONE QDX I logged in as a guest and have asked if Hans and co can link this to my accoint.

He has his hands more than full right now it can wait.

Thanks? and 73 Jim

Re: Successful QDX order

I was going to join in the purchase riot, and got ready to make my rush for the counter, but at 1755Z, I shut the page and didn't do it. I'm probably going to wait for issue#5 because I hate these jostling, sharp elbow, scrambles to get the order in. Also, not being in the first wave, sometimes means component niggles, and firmware have been sorted out by the time you get the product. Anyway - I am still playing with my new QCX+20 which I got about a fortnight ago.?

Hope all successful buyers have a happy time when they come.

Indeed not funny, specially for those who ordered & paid for the (single) QDX and will be noticed that they have to wait for batch 3 or money back :'(

Re: Successfully purchased 5 QDX kits on Friday - shipping cost issue

Coincidentally, I actually did order five without a hitch.

Re: So annoyed

I¡¯m going to gift Hans a Bitcoin for Christmas which, at a value of about $47,850 at the moment, should ease his financial squeeze a bit.? Well, OK, it¡¯s going to be one of those 3-D printed physical ones, but it¡¯s very shiny, is just the right size as a stocking stuffer,?and it¡¯s the thought that really counts,?right?
