QCX80 T1, S3 value?
Can someone tell me the inductance of S3 for the 80 meter T1?? I lose track trying to count 68 turns and it would be a whole lot easier just to measure S3 for the proper L.? Everytime I count the turns, no matter what trick I use, i get a different number.? So OK, I'm a loser.? Maybe the value is in the manual someplace but I'm already going blind trying to wind 68 turns of #32 wire on a T50-2.. 83 turns? and loops with the wire provided in the kit is madness.? 68 turns is not much better.? Just please, somebody, tell me what the inductance is and I'll be fine.? Thanks!? ( oh, and if that info is not available, maybe some superhuman can wind 68 turns on a T50-2, measure it, and let me know.? I'll buy you coffee.

Halden NR7V Running the filter design in a circuit simulator like LTSpice and using Monte-carlo analysis should show the effect on performance at various levels of tolerance.? I have the same meter and find it to not be as accurate as a good lab-grade instrument, but it is quick and accurate for checking components before soldering them into a board. Arv? VFO/SigGen R6
#vfo
The VFO/SigGen kit includes, but does not install, R6.? In AppNote6 for the SigGen Set, the additional jumper is shown running from R6 to pad W0.
Just to verify: when used as part of the SigGen set, R6 should in fact be installed on the QCU board. Thanks for any/all info! Bruce K1FFX |
Now, questions about Relay Kit; Re: Problems with Relay Kit;
I just read the topic that his message originally was meant for.? I have a learning question.? What do the jumpers at W0-W1 and W2-W3 physically do on the board?
I am currently using the U3S successfully with LPF at position 0.? I have the relay board all set and ready to go with (5) LPF.? I am missing the relay to put in position 0. I was considering continuing the final wiring of antenna while I waited on the final relay.?? |
Martin is right: You first must confirm (enter) the seleted RIT with the left button, then you can leave the function with the right button and the RX offset will stay. The term "RIT" is a bit misleading in the case of the QCX, it is not a RIT like we are all used to from our ICOMs, YAESUs and Kenwoods. I have metioned that to Hans al?ready a few months ago and if I remeber correctly he wanted to think about a change in funtion, but I assume that Hans has so much work that he can't keep up with all our suggestions and wishes as desirable they may be.

Re: Assembly manual for VFO/SigGen kit QCU Rev 4
#vfo
Hi Bruce The changes to the PCB for Rev 4 were inconsequential, there is no separate Rev 4 manual... use the Rev 3 one...? My suggestion build the VFO board first and the Synth board, and get it working... then worry about adding the relay board and 6 LPFs according to the App Note AN006 at 73 Hans G0UPL On Fri, Aug 10, 2018 at 9:53 PM Bruce Rosen <rosen.bruce@...> wrote: I'm about to start construction of the VFO/SigGen HF Sinewave Set, of which one component is the VFO/SigGen kit.? The PCB is marked QCU Rev 4.? The URL to download its assembly manual includes QCU Rev 4 in its title.? However, when I open the PDF, its big red letters up top say? Rev 1 or Rev 3.? I'm assuming it's just an editing oversight, but I wanted to make sure there isn't a Rev 4 assembly manual out there, before I heat up the soldering iron. |
YOTA 2018
Hi all Just a note to say, if you emailed me but I haven't replied, it is because I'm a bit behind on the emails. It is hard enough to keep up with the email traffic normally. But this week even harder, as I am currently in South Africa attending the YOTA 2018 summercamp (a.k.a. wintercamp, technically). YOTA = Youngsters On The Air.? Clearly, on the organizer side, not the participant side, as I don't meet the Y criteria in YOTA by a factor of nearly 3dB. I have been so busy I haven't been OTA since December either... so fail on all counts ;-) So please bear with me until I can catch on on the emails when I get home towards the end of next week.? 73 Hans G0UPL |
I think its acting normal. I have my U3S connected via an ammeter, and honestly the backlight current isn't much if you are on a power supply. I suggest setting it to he visible. Carefully adjust the pa bias, and you should be ready for transmit. It may take many cal cycles before rig falls into wspr window, so patiently wait for spots.

Hey gang,
I'm working on setting up (and getting to know) a new U3S which I just finished assembling yesterday. ?It has a QLG1 GPS and the firmware is v3.12. During the build I configured the U3S pcb for "software variable brightness." ?In the firmware I set the "Bright" timeout setting to turn off the backlight after 5 minutes of no activity. ?This seems to works fine. HOWEVER, when the backlight turns off I can't rewake the display! ?Pushing and / or holding either the left or right buttons doesn't do anything. ?I have to turn the power off and back on to get the display light back on on. ?Since I haven't done any transmitting yet I can't tell if the firmware is locking up or if it's just the backlight. Is anyone else using the software backlight timeout feature and does it work properly for you? For now I've just turned the backlight timeout off. 73, John AA7US |
