Re: U3S-18 in the air
John,
It sure is. Just woke here to see it had just started again this morning.Altitude steady as well as speed. This flight is in no hurry to get anywhere but persistent. Worried about it flying into weather or clouds but so far,it has somehow made it...so far. I`ll post a new trajectory soon. Jim |
Re: QCX Firmware
Hi Carl There is no QCX firmware download page yet... I have not sorted that out yet. I will email you the .hex file.? However, I am also posting you a new chip today, in case you do not manage to repair that current one. Actually by coincidence I just wrote out your address on a bubble-wrap envelope right this minute! 73 Hans G0UPL On Thu, Sep 14, 2017 at 9:49 AM, <m0icr@...> wrote: Hi all, |

Setting time on QCX - wspr mode
I plan to add a gps module to my QCX to ensure frequency calibration and correct time but for?the time being I am setting the clock manually each time ?I do a wspr session.
Each time I change a (any) menu setting the clock seems to stop and it completely resets to 00:00 if I remove the power. Is this normal? 73 Carl M0ICR |
Re: QCX with GPS
Hi Daniel,
Yes, I have also found that the frequency calibration routine which depends on rhe PPS works fine. The time is also set correctly from the QLG1 at the end of the first 2 minute WSPR transmission. It is just that menu "8.13 GPS data" does not work. The frequency is also recalibrated at the completion of each WSPR transmission correctly although the line 1 of the display changes to the A VFO frequency rather than the WSPR frequency at the completion of calibration. Even though the A VFO frequency is displayed, the QCX correctly transmits on the specified WSPR frequency. 73, Warren K2GQT |

Re: U3S-18 in the air
Day 4 and U3S18 has appeared yet again right on track.
First 3 days it started up almost like clock work around 9am. This morning as I sat to have coffee,it appeared just as I sat in the chair to observe around 7:42 am. So far so good, altitudes are steady and gaining a bit as the sun rises.Hoping it finds it`s way around higher clouds and storms since it is at such low altitudes. Will run a Hysplit soon as my eyes start working :) |
Re: Band chosen at start up
The menu option 7.8 does not exist in the early (at least <90) units. The procedure I came up with was to hold down PTT during boot, it says reset... then OK and powers up, but this requires a trick to really clear to defaults. Power it up and hold the PTT, wait until you see the Reset message and unplug power before "OK" shows up. The next power up you can select band. You may need to time this correct. |
