QMX+ microphone list?

I know¡.. lots of postings on QMX+ microphones here. Does anybody have a single list of working good/cheap mics?
?
Thanks de K2RMA?

Estimate for Release of version 1.2 of ABS solution for QMX+

I just/finally bought my QMX+ at Dayton FDIM. Is there an estimate for the upcoming release of version 1.2 of ABS solution for QMX+? ? ?Where can I find more details, ie pictures and documentation?
?
?Thanks de?

QMX+ printed assembly manuals

Do most folks print their QMX+ assembly manuals or just use/read them online?
?
While I do own a Brother inkjet, does anyone know of a cheap online service to print single copies? My local (good folks) printing company estimated about $30 for 2-sided color printing of 100 pages.?

Thanks de?

Re: Microphone pre-amp

Yeah, thats fair enough. I keep forgetting to switch of the external preamp, although the battery drain in minimal.
?
I have the QMX+ so i have plenty of room in the case to install the preamp inside. I need to devise some sort of switch to rout the mic signal to the premap or not when the input is used as a CW key... But thats for another day...

Cheers.

Yes, I have version 1.0 and it is working FB on SSB.

Re: Microphone pre-amp

Hi Mehmet,
?
I am sure that it helps but I am trying to minimise the number of potential points of failure as I sometimes operate portable. Aborting an outing because I forgot to check the microphone battery (I can see myself doing this :-o ) would be a disappointment so I will try to find an electret microphone better than what I have now!
?
I started with the Baofeng one, it was useless, then one from the local shop, it kind of work if you don't mind shouting and turns the AGC off, and now I think that I will mail order one with a proper tech spec!!!

Re: Microphone pre-amp

Hi Yanning,
?
If it helps, I use a MAX9814 Arduino mic amplifier module powered by two AA batteries.
The module come with a mic capsule on board. I removed the mic capsule and wired it to my gaming headset with built in mic. I also added a foot-switch for PTT for hands free operation.

Cheers.

Re: U3S andLPF Relay Sw board

Hi guys,??
Is there a way to see what bands/frequencies i have stored in the U3S ?
It may be that I am not saving my setup correctly,? it appears I am only storing 1 band at a time, not all 6 ? Thanks.?

Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies,

Firstly, I was unaware?that depressing the "Edit" button while?the U3S is in idle mode (awaiting the start of the WSPR transmission)
puts the U3S in transmit mode. If I have 6 relays and LPF installed can I choose which relay to fire up ?
I have not read this information anywhere so I am missing something, please point me in the right direction to gain access to this info.

I have come to the conclusion that I am incorrectly programming the U3S because now when the WSPR transmission starts it only transmits on band 1,?
yesterday it was only transmitting on band 0. (yes, I have been meddling?in the menus)
I can confirm the tx frequency along with the corresponding? relay/LPF combination is working and I have 200mw RF flowing into the power meter.
I am sure I have set all 6 channels correctly and depressed the "Edit" button twice to make the band active, (No ---- symbols between?
? ?WSPR--------23? (disabled mode setting)
Definitely?a programming issue on my part,?
Any help would be appreciated?

For each of the mode Index entries, The following 'band' number is programming the relay and LPF paths while the frequency in that memory is setting the exact TX frequency for that 'RF route' and when that TX memory is selected/enabled it should all work. For digimodes you need to make sure the start & Frame figures make sense too?

Most likely it's going to be your programming, or errors in links, wiring relay ID numbers etc.? ?e.g. verify if the right relays clicking as you select transmit on each of the bands.?

see if I can get the whole radio calibrated
I would first make sure all is functioning correctly,? RX and TX, before trying the calibration.? ?That removes one variable if something needs attention.? ?The calibration is optional,? and everything will work fine without it.

Excellent!? I'm glad you found & fixed it.

The radio type needed to me changed to QMX+ to see all the bands
When you made this change, if you just did it via the menu, not everything will work correctly.? You should instead do a factory reset, and as it comes out of reset, it will present you with the option to select the radio band version-do it there, and all will be well (per the operation manual).

I didn't realise that the 3.3V was just for high impedance. You saved me 5€ !

Yes, all versions of QMX and QMX+

Re: QMX Microphone capsules in EU

I use this one:
It is -30dB. Works perfectly, I need to reduce Mic gain to 40.

As far as I remember cheapest shipping they have is about 6 Euros.

Yeah, the SMD caps are just on bottom of the board, just like Dan's photos.

Glenn, a quick question regarding the band configuration menu for a 40-10m QMX. I'm assuming one could have the bands cycle in the correct sequence, ie 40-20-17-12-10 as long as the operator is willing to manually enter the all the band configuration parameters.
Hi Russ,?
I was a bit lazy and didn't reorder 40m to be the first band in the sequence.? The sequence is currently 20, 17, 15, 12, 40, 10.

Re: QMX Failure #qmx

Nico,
?
Check IC503 (four 2 input AND gates). Two of the 4 outputs were shorted on mine.
?
My QMX+ was working flawlessly for a long time.? When I added the SSB FW I was playing with the VOX and
it might have had too much gain? along with a possible intermittent coax cable to my QRP dummy load.
?
Anyway smoke started pouring out of the case and one BS170 was cooked. After replacing the BS170's (decided to solder the ground leads just to the top pads on the board) is
when I had it in Message Repeat Mode and all of a sudden the receive got much louder.....indicating a open coax or bad connection. I purchased a new PL259 to BNC cable without
the lousy adapter.? Waiting for new transistors (and IC503) from Digi-Key. Transistors this time were still good - but I didn't realize this until I removed two and removed the IC.
?
Still trying to figure out why the outputs of the gates to the inputs (gate) of the BS170 went???

Re: Dreaded dead transmit from SSB Calibration routine

Yes, I am getting a genuine 4W+ output on 60m using my calibrated LJ-2K+ Power Meter.
?
Hmmmmm, will give that a try - never thought of doing that. I will advise later.
