Re: Swr meter in SSB mode

Hi Nico,
?
FWIW, I see the same thing.
The SWR reading bounces all over the place but the SWR protection does not trip.

Hi,
Were you using CESSB??
This is good news :)

Re: QMX WSPR Anomaly

Grant,

A wild guess here is that you did not select WSPR in the Beacon Menu or perhaps you did, and the selection jumped??

I was trying out WSPR with my high band QMX with settings as depicted in the instruction manual. I had my QLG2 attached and working with the green light blinking. I had the transmit set to 4 after the hour as in the instructions, and when that time arrived, the rig kicked into transmit mode. All appeared to be going with when the display suddenly changed to read the following: 14,097,140 CW 5 0 On the next line: VK4JAZ QG62 30.

And there it remained, as if stuck. After a good few minutes I shut it down as nothing appeared to be happening.?
Any ideas what this means?

Hi all,?
I finally got outside with the QMX to do a POTA activation. My objective with this setup is to have a HF kit as small and light as possible to keep in the glove box of my car for impromptu activations or in between kids sports games, practices etc.?
?
QMX is a recent kit built 20-80m version 12v and kit includes:
  • 12 ah lithium ion battery?
  • kit built Tufteln QRP EFRW 71’ antenna
  • Retevis mic (Kenwood jack version modified for QMX)
  • thin paracord
  • Weaver 12 oz throw weight
  • 10m RG316 coax
  • Cheap earbuds
  • Toiletry bag from some airline?
Antenna was set up as a sloper with radiating end about 25’ in a tree and feed end down to a picnic table and tied to a BBQ. SWR was 1.9. ?Conditions on 20m were good but lots of activity from POTA and the Mississippi QSO party.?

I got my 10 contacts hunting since it was easy pickings. Great contacts and signal reports from all directions and I’m looking forward to many more outings with the QMX!

Re: Tariffs?

The hidden problem here is not the money. The Carrier
is asking a small business, to supply a tax id or identity information.
In the US that is SS#. Hans has a proficient assistant who may have to?
email each customer and ask for a SS#. This is a burden on a small business.?
I recall when the Red Cross demanded background checks on radio hams who were part of ARES,
many refused. But lets wait and see what DOGE and the US government do next!?

I've fought the wiki edit system for hours and nothing seems to help.? The photos section won't accept images because it is full, maybe that's the problem.

Re: QMX+ no power output, low SMPS bias current

I did, but on another readthrough of the directions, I missed that it said to put it in from the underside of the board.? Let me try changing that.

Re: Wiki Page: QMX External Microphone Options #wiki-notice

I ordered a cheaper version that should be arriving today... Looks identical on the outside....

About calibration

I have a QMX built by QRP Labs.
?
I haven't updated to the SSB firmware yet.
?
Do I need to calibrate?
?
How do I do the calibration process?
?
Thanks.

Re: Tariffs?

It is more likely Tariffs are applied when the carrier, has to supply paperwork
to the country. If the carrier has to prove or back up origin and cost, those costs
will be passed on because the process is handled by a third party broker.?
That is why Hans said, "Wait and see." This may take some weeks. I found
DHL credit card payment was not working properly because the verification had Captcha.?
I kept having to find bicycles, etc. I finally left cash for the driver.?
So there was a diminimus but you have to pay to prove it....if that makes sense HIHI.?

Re: Tariffs?

Tariffs are assessed on import into the US, not when ordered from Turkye.? Whatever the % may be.??

Re: Tariffs?

In any case, I'm glad I ordered my QMX+ earlier this week.

Re: Available Hand Mics for QMX SSB ?

Hello Ivan, which microphone did you use? How is the quality of the mic? Thanks, Daniel?

NO!? You need the 5.5 x 2.1mm plug.? The 2.5mm version gives intermittent contact.
The long one, at least 12mm.

Re: QMX and power bank PD

Hi?
I found and using this
5/9/12 (15/20(for the PC) if the PD of the Power Bank Supports)
9 and 12 volts are great for the QDX, QMX and QMX+
Buy the one with 5.5 x 2.5mm plug

Re: QCX+ TCXO

Hi
If you connect QCX to GPS,
you can (it will) precisely adjust frequency of the QCX for the TXCO
This was implemented for WSPR on QCX
If you leave the GPS on,
you'll have an atomic clock/frequency standart :)

True Bruce,

I was going by the marking on the QRPLabs TCXO, "KXO-84 RG" which matches the Geyer part.

Unfortunately digital stepped adjustment TCXOs also do not state what they are.
