may the smallest GoBox
hi, just setting up my new and very handy GoBox, a beauty case by UGREEN, approx. L22 x W14 x H8 cm, with hand strap and carabiner hook.?
Equipment inside is the QMX, a talentcell powerbank, noname speaker and the tiny paddle by .
Only some coax , an 8m-pole with transport length only 70cm and the have to go in an extra little package to fit into my bicycle trailer? ;-))

Re: Fine tuning of a QDX
Pierre,?
? ? ?The BPF sweep problem on 20M on High band QDXs has been there for most people, and L12 changes to fix it haven't been established that I've seen. Doesn't seem to be much you can do about it, but make sure the audio level on that band is appropriate in WJST-X..and seems to still work pretty well on 20M for me.?
?
As far as power output, the middle set of toroids is for 15/17m... And I've found those to be a tradeoff...messing with them to increase power on 15m may mean a slight decrease on 17m.?
If you study the QDX manual and schematic, you can see which toroids affect which bands. There are 3 sets of LPFs, and they are assigned to different bands in the terminal application.?

Using Retevis HK-008 speaker microphone with QMX for SSB
Hi all, while I am eagerly awaiting the stable release of the SSB update (not brave enough for the beta) I am trying to figure the microphone situation.
?
I am absolute newbie both in amateur radio and all the electrical stuff, including wiring and soldering. So naturally I was looking for video tutorials on YouTube.
?
Will this contraption work for QMX?
?
https://youtu.be/Ih6scBu1Mko?si=Jts6MUJGJWOhiz_6
?
I keep reading that everything made for the trusdx should do, but that's primarily for the microphone. How about the speaker?
?
If I follow this tutorial 100% will I be ok both in terms of audio and microphone?
?
Thank you :) |
Using the QMX+ with an auto-tuner
I am using my new QMX+ with the HardRock-50+ (HR-50+) amplifier with its
integrated ATU.
?
The ATU requires a bit of RF energy to trigger the tuning procedure.? So, one
pushes the Tune button on the amplifier and then you key the QMX+.? When
tuning begins, the amplifier takes itself off-line and QMX+ is then driving
the ATU directly.? So, at that point, the QMX+ could (and probably will) encounter
a mismatch, its SWR checker goes into action, and the QMX+ is taken off-line.
I was able to confirm this by putting a watt meter between the QMX+ and the
amplifier.
?
Parenthetically, this would also be the case with a manual tuner.
?
So (and risking that this has been covered already a dozen times), how does one
tune an antenna without triggering SWR protection in the QMX+?
?
Thanks, all!

more WSJT-X touble
it worked but now a new bug where I don't know where to look. QMX+ is selected in WSJTX input and the PC and decoding is ok but no transmit and when I try to transmit I get? a rig control error.

Re: QMX and ESD
I finally had enough with the ESD upsets when touching the knobs.? On the last occasion I lost my memory settings due to to a reset.? ?Today I worked out a solution.? I cut a piece of copper foil and punched holes in it to fit under the encoder nuts and around the push buttons and microphone.? ?I insulated around the circuit board areas with black electrical tape on the edges.? ?I would have used Kapton tape but do not have any in my supplies.? ?I originally tried grounding the foil by soldering to the BNC connector but realized that it would block the encoder board from passing through the display board opening.? I soldered a wire from the foil to the power input ground.? ?Put on my fleece jacket, rubbed it round on the chair and touched the knobs a bunch of times.? No upsets.? ?It wouldbe a good design upgrade to put a surface ground layer on the encoder board that the mounting nuts can make contact with and include a path to system ground.

Re: shorted PA on TX, dead SMPSU?
Dan,
?
never ever run a QMX with SMPS boards if the off line tests are not ok!!!
It looks like a short at VDD (or a faulty PCB#2).
Please remove all subboards and check resistance at the mainboard VDD-GND and VCC-GND. Both should be some kOhm. If only a few Ohm one or more element(s) connected to this voltage rail is broken (or the rail is shorted by a solder whisker or so).
?
If resistance is not ok, you have to search for the broken element, not so easy.
?
If resistance is ok you have to repair both SMPS boards or use spare parts from QRP Labs.
?
If all is ok you need for start at least 200 mA, use 250 mA limitation @ 6.5 V.
