The advantage of USB mode over DIGI mode is the ability to control the power level. DIGI is my preferred mode but there are times when reduced power is useful.

I have also duplicated the problem in running FT8 in USB mode in WSJT-X.
After the first transmission of the automatic exchange, it won't transmit again.
?
My first note: FT8/FT4 will always work better in digi mode, so why are we trying this??
So a fix may be low priority, unless this also affects other WSJT-X modes that need SSB mode.
?
Anyway, I tried to diagnose it a bit, changing settings and VFOs used, etc.? I tried what I think is the least complicated settings, for radio control, i.e. setting both 'Mode' and 'Split Operation' to 'None', and setting mode manually and selecting VFO A.? But the problem persists.? I turned on the QMX CAT log, and observed the commands sent to QMX, and I see the correct commands being issued, but on the 2nd cycle when the TX command is sent, for some reason QMX immediately reverts to RX mode (per its log). This same action happens on successive cycles.? I have no idea why.

That is puzzling and suggests that there is a another cause that is not understood.? In my case I also had an issue where my QMX was? transmitting on a different frequency than was displayed on VFO A. It was the Frequency center in the Band Configuration for 20 meters.? In a separate post, I noted that this was only resolved after running a re-callibration, but it seemed to also point to the Band configuration involvement.

Simulation of #QMX Filters + planned 6m in QMX #qmx

Hello,
?
80-20m is my first QMX Kit, QMX+ (160-6m) my second, now I purchased a 20-10m QMX Kit.
I am using the QMX+ stationary, the smallones I want to use in portable operation.
80-20 and 20-10 means:? 2x 20 m and no 6m band.
The idea is to modify the 20-10m to 17-6m.
The first thing I do is studying the schematics and creating simulations with the original L and in ngspice to get a feeling.

If you had then I think there would have been a massive amount of demands for the additional features to be added NOW!? There would have been massive criticism.? The "are we there yet" posts would have? been replaced by "I want it NOW!" posts.? This would have been far more stressful and harmful to the QMX Labs reputation.

In more detail:
It couldn't have been launched without a UI to control things - everything, the more functionality the more UI.? It isn't optional.
It had to have SSB.
It had to have microphone input.
SSB may have needed it's calibration functions.
The microphone would probably need compression and it emerged that noise cancellation was required.
I personally don't use VOX, so everyone else could do without that :)

CESSB might have been able to be left but for most features there would have been instant demands for them and Hans would have been coping with juggling these demands at the same time as doing what he's doing now, responding to and fixing bugs - and having a break I hope!

Then I'm also a UK software developer who worked for a UK scientific tech company (Oxford Instruments) and we tried not to release products until they were ready.

Re: Internal mic seems to be working? #qmx #ssb

I was going to be sarcastic and ask what kind of solder was needed to solder the plug on the mic cable. ;-)

As someone who has worked as 75% programmer, 25% electronics engineer all my working life, it's always pleasing when you see someone produce a nice solution to a task. Even more so when it's a one-man-band type of company. Actually, with 40+ years engineering experience, very little impresses me any more but this is an impressive piece of work from Hans.

There are several ways to use WSJT-X to send logging to another program.
Section 12 of the manual describes them.

Re: com port conflict

Mark I am already struggling with the programs in use as my skills on the PC are rather limited. I have no idea, what Ham Radio is about and would like to avoid adding more software to set up unless it is dummmy proof and makes things easier. I just messed up something and my Flex 1500 KE9NS software will not start any more. Before I did loose the audio setup for WSJT-X (VM Banana) The QMX works though but with the 6 m noise is no fun there.

Subject: [QRPLabs] QMX+ Strange Audio Artifact - Help, Please...

Hi All,
?
Just completed building my third QMX+ (the first two were quite successful) and I've come upon an issue that I need help with. The rig appears to work as advertised: receives well, GPS works, RF output levels are acceptable, everything works great except.... when I key down I hear what sounds like a machine gun. It is not there during receive - only when I transmit. Not real loud, but loud enough to be annoying. Happens on all bands, with AGC on or off.
?
Any idea what might be the cause, or where to start looking for it?
