Re: FT8 in USB mode - not working right?
开云体育
Good to know, thank you. Hopefully Hans can reproduce it also.
BTW, In WSJTX, I can't select the QMX as a rig type without crashing WSJTX. I have to use QCX/QDX. In JTDX I can select QMX OK. Just found this out while trying to figure out the USB tx issue.

Yes I can duplicate this behavior in wsjtx. Digi mode works fine.? Switch to USB mode I get one good transmit then out just goes BLIP (keys up and unkeys for a microsecond) every time? after that.

FT8 in USB mode - not working right?
开云体育
Anybody else able to run FT8 in USB mode? If I have USB mode selected, I can only do one CQ transmission. After the first one, subsequent ones do not produce RF. Restarting JTDX/WSJTX doesn't fix it. Only cycling power on QMX+ will fix it. Interestingly, I
can do as many manual tune cycles as I want prior to my first CQ, but after that nothing will produce RF out.
If I put it in DIGI mode, everything works fine. Both WSJTX and JTDX behave this way. QMX+ responds to the power off button so it doesn't appear to be hung.

Re: QMX SSB settings for Winlink?
Thank you Stan, I fiddled with it last night and had trouble with Putty connection to the right.? This afternoon I was using win link and it doesn't seem to get beyond speed level 5, then it falls back to speed setting 1 or 2.? Not sure if I am missing some microphone settings or the like? Transmit seems to be 4-5 watts based on my power supply display. On Fri, Mar 21, 2025 at 2:24?PM Stan Dye via <standye=[email protected]> wrote:

QCX Mini
I just got a Mini for 20 meters finished. I knew it was small but it’s much smaller than anticipated. Worked several stations and had some into France on Reverse Beacon. Unfortunately it was 2 am local time. Hope to find a time to get across the pond when people are awake. I got this one for taking on hikes. 73s John N4HNO |

I figured out apparently why this is happening.? ?Looking at my Band Configuration settings I had accidently got a zero in the Frequency center setting for 20 meters.? After I corrected this to 14175000 (presumably any valid frequency between 14.000 and 14.350 MHz is good)? I re-ran calibration for 20 meters and got similar curves to the other bands.

So if you are having a problem with weird calibration on a band, double check your settings in Band Configuration.

Here's the tiny mic that I've been using with my (tr)USDX and now the QMX. It's really simple to put together - I took an old mobile phone headphone that had an in-line mic and push-switch and simply removed the headphones and re-wired the switch and mic element as per the QMX/(tr)USDX specs. It works surprisingly well and weighs next to nothing.... Perfect for SOTA etc.? ( link, for when the in-line image disappears: ) |
Running SSB version 3.? On 20 meters if I tune from VFO B it tunes on the correct frequency.? If I? switch to VFO A it tunes on the frequency that is the Frequency center defined in Band configuration, not the frequency in VFO A. ? ? Prior to this happening I accidently had a Frequency center stored as 0? for 20 meters.? After I corrected it to 14175000, I noticed this behavior.? Cycling power does not appear to correct this.??

Re: MicMod for the QMX+ using cheap Baofeng Mic
#QMXp
Nice, Timo.
One minor note: the QMX has an internal DC blocking capacitor on the mic input, so an external one is not needed. |

the XM8500 is a dynamic micA dynamic mic is not well suited to QMX, unless you modify QMX internally. This is because a dynamic mic has an impedance of about 300-600 ohms, and the QMX is expecting a high-impedance microphone, 2.2K? ohms or greater.
So you can't get good performance from a dynamic mic on QMX.

Re: qmx+ ssb fldigi psk31 - won't transmit
unfortunately no! i don't recall what i had there before but i am pretty sure it was either timeout or post write delay on hamlib rig control window.??
i will go back & try to re-create my issue. if i am successful in isolating the fix, i will post it here.?

Hi all,
?
THANK YOU HANS. You're awesome. I appreciate the way this group and your rigs work... I enjoy being part of the process of development, even if by osmosis LOL... I doubt I will be much help.
?
I am taking it slow. Installed the beta firmware on my QMX+ with no issues, and am listening to the OMISS 20M net on SSB in the background as I work on my laptop on work stuff. When I get the electret mic in I ordered, I'll get more brave. It sounds really nice to me on the portable / battery operated speaker system I built.
?
I have noticed no issues at all with CW in comparison to the previous firmware releases (which matters to me because I am 90% a CW guy). Well done!
?
THANK YOU!
