I just sent money for a microphone. Please pick out a very macho color for me. Address is good in the PayPal or on QRZ. Bill On Mar 20, 2025, at 2:11?PM, Erik Larson via groups.io <kd7ykq@...> wrote: |

Should it be this difficult to calibrate?I've done two calibrations and both ran to completion. I was running at less than full power, 10V on a 12V QMX.
What voltage were you using?? Did you have a dummy load that gives close to 1:1 SWR?
Would you be happy to drive it at full power on every band?
?
AIUI the calibration process will run the QMX up to full power at least, maybe to 11 - and do this on every band.

I am running USB IMD Sync optimization on another QMX - this time I had my headphones plugged in.
While it is running the optimization, on some bands I hear the two-tone IMD signal, but on most bands I only hear one tone.
Is this expected?? Or perhaps the reason some of us are getting strange optimization results?

Hans,

I started the calibration process on the original beta .000, about half way through it popped one of the finals and crowbarred my power supply. I changed all 4 mosfets and updated to .002. About a hour ago I started calibration #2, about half way through is said it lost communication with the radio and I had to reset everything. I’m now trying attempt #3 to calibrate. Should it be this difficult to calibrate?

Re: #QMX 60-15 initial power output
#qmx
I built a 9V midband QMX, basically everything works fine and all hardware tests are good, and I used it already for some SOTA activations.
Now I want to tweak it a little, as the power output is good on most bands, just on 15m it could be better. My power outputs are as follows:
?
60m : 5.6W
40m: 5.1W
30m: 5.4W
20m: 4.9W
17m: was 4W, now 4.6W
15m: was 3.5W, now 3.7W
?
I set the power supply to 9.2/9.3 during rx, then the QMX shows 8.9 - 9.0V during tx.
?
Initially 17m was 4.0W and 15m was 3.5W. I played around with the spacing of L510 and 513, but everything I tried did't change much. Then I removed one turn of L513, and 17m improved to 4.6 and 15m to 3.7W. The drop in the LPF sweep moved slightly to the right.
?
How did you change the spacing to improve the Output power? Can someone show images of their successful tuning?
?
?
I know that 3.7 to 5W won't be much of a difference on the band, but I would like to get out as much as possible. Especially if others have 5+W on 15m, it should be possible.

Re: Available Hand Mics for QMX SSB ?
Matt, from the beta firmware download page:
?
Microphone Connection: The microphone is plugged into the QMX Paddle port; this stereo 3.5mm jack plug is for both the microphone signal AND the PTT switch.?

开云体育Adam has a few different wiring configurations listed for the mic; which one has been found to work with the QMX?Thanks. 73 -- Matt N3AR

Re: Did I make an unfixable mistake?

I started using ChipQuik brand liquid flux for rework? and have been very happy with it.?

I had been using up an older supply of Radio Shack brand solder wick and it performed better with a drop or two of the flux on the wick prior to wicking the joint.? Ran out of the RS wick. Ordered some ChipQuik brand solder wick in their 2mm width. Found it worked great without any extra flux. Place the wick on the joint, apply a somewhat warm iron (400C) raise the spool side of the wick a bit and the solder is absorbed right off the joint. Even was able to clear through holes if I flowed a little fresh solder in just before wicking.? Great stuff? GREG KI4NVX?

Make sure that in the band configuration menu that you have PTT Grounded ENABLED if your amplifier needs a pulled down PTT signal.? Default is a +5V output upon transmit.? ?PTT output is on the TIP of PTT jack.
