Re: mission impossible? QRP labs QMX power supply boards

Very interesting.
?
Any chance for more details?
Circuit diagram?
Parts list?
Basic Performance specs?
?
I would love to cobble up one or two just to learn and eval myself.

Re: mission impossible? QRP labs QMX power supply boards

I made a board with a couple of linear regulators to replace the boards.? It uses more power but is much more robust.
Those are TO-220 packages with most of the tab clipped off.

Re: Power Source for 50 Watt Amp for QCX Series

Was the power smooth enough to run a radio on?

Re: New QMX+ on the air

Congratulations, QRP Labs and their rigs are very addicting! ?I enjoy many days operating on my collection…still use the original QCX and it’s wonderful built in key. ?I find great joy in using something I made! ?Hpe to cu on the air sometime.?

Hi John
Did you operate FT8 ?

It seems the data is getting to the LCD.
If the LCD has 5 volts on the pins it should have and the ground pins are at 0 volts then suspect the LCD.

New QMX+ on the air

Hello,
?
Happy to listen my first CQ CQ :)

I wanna say thank you to all of you, even if Hans documentation is awesome, your support helps me alot.

I believe now, it's time to work on the reglementation part of the licence...

?I have not been able to configure fldigi on Windows 10 to work with QMX+. WSJT-X has been working just fine. Can anyone suggest the correct settings?

Hi Aki,
?
Many many thanks for your help and your time!
I'll try to get this little part.

Re: mission impossible? QRP labs QMX power supply boards

I have a spare pair of boards but I am in AU.

Re: Hans, please consider labeling the "Select" and "Exit" buttons on the enclosures of the QMX

I'm a senior senior, and it's healthy mental exercise trying to remember the button functions.?
(Not really, please label!!!)

Re: New Built QMX screen lit but blank #help #qmx

In the QCX troubleshooting info they have you check the pot by making sure the voltage on lcd pin 3 sweeps from 0 to 5v as you turn the pot through a full turn.? I did this and confirmed I am getting the expected voltage change on pin 3.? I believe this rules out the pot being bad.
?
Also of note, I think, the very faint text I was able to see earlier "faded" while the unit was on for 5 minutes or so. It is no longer visible.

Re: mission impossible? QRP labs QMX power supply boards

I have successfully replaced diodes on those little boards, and in the wiki here there is a description of how to do stand-alone testing on them.?
?
But it is easier to buy the inexpensive replacement tested power supply boards from qrp-labs, and you won't have to wait in the queue for the full kits.

Re: 4 months

My QMX-Plus order was updated on Dec 5, Dec 13 and Dec 16.? Moving up from #222 to #156 in the list.?

Re: New Built QMX screen lit but blank #help #qmx

Yes, one of the connections on the little trimmer pot could indeed cause that issue, as could R304 - a tiny 3.3k resistor.? Make sure it is still in place and didn't get dislodged.

Re: QMX+ Rev1 Not shutting down

I've a similar thing with a QMX.? What sort of power is it drawing in the post off state?
?

Re: O Happy Day!

Steve,
I'm certainly impressed by your QRPp results!??
My indoor z shaped dipole on the 2nd floor bedroom ceiling does not help me much on QRP CW.? Walls and ceilings here are stucco so have an embedded wire mesh.? Result is what living in a partial faraday cage is like!
?
If I get bored I'll work some FT-8 or FT-4 on 20.? But I'd rather be pounding a key, or using the built-in keyer on the QRP Labs rig in use at the time.

Computer not connecting to newly built QDX

I just finished building a version 5 QDX unit.? The build went very well and I'm sure there are no poor solder connections as I checked every connection with a VOM after doing the soldering.? All were good.
?
This is a high band version and the third QDX kit I've built.? The first two work fine.?
?
The problem I'm seeing is when I connect to the computer port I get a message that something is wrong with the USB device and Windows will not recognize it.
?
It does appear the unit is working otherwise as the red LED blinks rapidly at power on and then stays lit.? I'm unable to load any firmware until I get the USB port to recognize the QDX.
?
I wired this unit up for 12 volts and used the RWTST method to wind the Binocular core.
?
I'm sure someone else has had this issue so what has been found to be the cause(s) and fixes for this problem?

QMX+ Rev1 Not shutting down

Finished building QMX+.? All seems well except that when pressing the encoder to shut down. I get the Shut Down Msg, it goes away, but the LCD still stays lit. Once that happens the encoder no longer functions.? If I remove the dc power and plug it back in all is well until I try to shut down again.
?
I am receiving and sending ft8 with no issues. According to Putty screen anywhere between 3.2 and 4.2 watts on all bands.? PSK Reporter shows being heard all over the US and Europe.
?
I have researched the Groups post, but no real solutions.? I have inspected solder joints, removed and inspected both sides of the 5V and 3 volt SMPS.? I do not have an oscilloscope but do have DVM.
?
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
