Re: QMX and FLDigi - MFSK modes
I am having this same issue with RTTY on my low band QMX, firmware level 014. WSJT works fine with FT8.
- fldigi attenuator IS set to 0db (saw the pointer on YouTube about that) - audio out is 100% (before that change, there was not tx at all) - I doubt I have changed rise/fall times - I doubt I have changed minimal samples from the default - I am sure TXID is off. I do see transmit bars on the QMX, but only for a seemingly random, typically very short (1s or so, but as much as 6s) transmissions. My macros DO set it back into <RX>, but I would have thought fldigi would not send that until it was done transmitting the text in the macro? 73 JRJ W9IYN |
Re: QCX version 3 PCB volume issue
Ok. Then you next should check the bias voltages on the op amp ICs 8,9 and 10. With your DVM you should see about 2.5v on pins 1,2,3,5,6&7 of IC 8 and on pins 5,6&7 of IC9. You should also see about 4.8v on pins 1,2&3 of IC9 and a bit less than half the input voltage on pins 1,2,3,5,6&7 of IC10. Please verify those voltages. Re: QMX Hi Band Noise Problem
OK! Nice job on the repair, Dan! I have seen other ADC failures occur, just a small few. Of all the components that connect to the 5V distribution, the ADC is the most vulnerable to overvoltage excursions. The analog front end gets damaged, leaving the digital portions (which run on 3.3V) still sort of functional. In the worst cases I've come across, the ADC chip actually becomes very warm. Hi Dave. What signal level did you see when you did the bandpass filter adjustment?? Hello Dmitrijs, If you use the search engine for "2200m" you will find my posting giving the components and turns for the QDX-M operating at 137.5 kHz, plus a url to a reflector with pics of the finished board and a SOTA summit-to-summit contact. Since then we are using the QDX-M with Android phones as the terminal device (Radiomsg is the app), used them in cave-to-surface ops, and have achieved a range of 6 km on the surface using WSPR. The antennas in use are 1m loops that have an effective radiated power of about 0.4 microWatts!.
I have also published a cave oriented article in the Cave Radio and Electronics Journal, No.124 () that gives more details. Good luck on the LF and MF bands. Ian VE6IXD |
QCX version 3 PCB volume issue
I just built a QCX version 3 PCB that I purchased from QRP Labs several years ago. Upon completion of the kit I am having volume issues. With the gain turned to max I can barely hear the tone. I noticed when doing the IQ balance that I could not get higher than 3 when the directions said turn the gain control mid way and you should tune at around 9. I could only reach 3 with max gain.
Have you heard of this problem? If so what can I do to resolve this issue. A little more info on my QCX. I am using the newest ATmega 1.09A chip. In the build I changed R41 to 150 ohm, R42 to 1.2 Kohm and C31 to 2.2 micro farad this was to improve the keying envelope. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Dave W6MRD |
Re: QMX and FLDigi - MFSK modes
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýA few things assuming QMX vs QDX has similarities. - fldigi audio/attenuator level to 0 (what is yours set to?) PTT through flrig only asserts the CAT command. It does not send
any audio. The QDX (and I assume QMX) wont "TX properly" unless
both are present. Cheers Bob On 22/3/24 03:39, N1EDC wrote:

QMX firmware install issue?
Hi all. Completed my QMX build and copied the latest firmware to the device. When I power the device on I get the top row of the display as seen in the photo. Clicking the power switch off changes nothing, it continues displaying. Any and all suggestions welcome. TY ditdit Ed, K1RID |
Re: Mid-band QMX???
I agree that a mid-band variant would be better for me as well. I already have one kit I assembled myself and am #10 on the list for another unit that is currently awaiting the GPS module. Once that gets here I may take my original kit and attempt any mods to make it mid-band.
I hate giving up on the 15 and 17 meter band. For a digital-modes radio to not use more of the WARC bands where the predominant modes are CW or digital.; IDK. 10 and 11 don't mean much to me. I would happily give up on 80. -- Tisha Hayes, AA4HA |
