Re: IQ Output Question

Hi Jim
?
?I'd like to have QMX send IQ info to an RSPdx SDR. But it appears they both use the USB port. Is there any way to have my cake and eat it too, as they say? If you enable IQ on the QMX, what happens to the CAT data - no longer sent, or interspersed?
?
Yess, you get to have your cake and eat it. The QMX implements a virtual USB Hub, with two devices?connected; USB Audio and USB Virtual COM Port. To you get audio and CAT at the SAME time.?Nothing is lost.?
?
?By the way - wondering if IQ is even working - if I enable it in the DIGI menu, exit from Menu and then go back in, IQ has been disabled. Bug, or not yet implemented?

I don't see that... I don't know what happened to your setup to cause that, but it's working OK for me here... I just tried both on the terminal and on the QMX itself. I suggest perhaps you should try a Factory Reset, dare I say it.?

it could be a spike or current. ?Just make sure your finals are ok and the output transformer is ok.

Forgot to mention, I'm at the most current firmware version.

IQ Output Question

On my QMX Rev 2, I connect to MacLoggerDX (MLDX) on my Mac Mini via the USB connection - works great. Also use it to run WSJT-X occasionally - also works great.

Re: QCX WARC Party - February 2024

Hi Luc,

was nice to talk to you with my newly built QCX 20m - as you posted, it works well - on 30m! 5 QSOs this afternoon with QRP stations - 4 QCX/QMX, one SOTA HB9CEV/P. Good fun!

Re: Subtle Q507 failure

Thanks Jeff, I'll try to remove Q507 this evening, unfortunately I will be waiting on receipt of the replacement from Digikey.
Any idea what caused the failures you see?? It seems like a voltage spike may be more of a problem than high current.

@Hans, it would be very cool if you could envision and produce a panadapter kit similar to the PX3. In your spare time, of course (lol)!

Re: QDX only powering up when USB is connected

Thanks. Not that but the ground on the output of my LM2596 voltage downconverter, (I have a 12V build and run it at 11.5V, instead of the 12.8V my power station puts out) but all in all the right answer

Check the soldering on the power connector. ?You may be completing the GND when USB is plugged in.

Battery voltage display bug in fw 1_00_016

There seems to be some interaction between the battery voltage display (set to Voltage), the CW decoder, and the Pwr/SWR display. When all three are enabled, the battery voltage stops updating after a while.?
I initially thought this was triggered by changing the update interval of the Pwr/SWR display, as that's when I noticed it, but it happens without changing that setting at all. Once the voltage display has frozen, it stays that way even after power cycling.?

Only a factory reset clears the issue.

Not exactly critical, but it would be useful to be able to see the battery voltage again....

QDX only powering up when USB is connected

Hi,?

Small issue with my QDX. Nothing critical, but it seems to power up only when it's connected via USB to a computer. Formware is 1.10. Could there be a settign in the firmware that I missed that causes this behavior??

Thanks and 73 de Volker EA7KLK

Re: #qmx #firmwaare 1_00_016 release (bug fixes) #qmx #firmwaare

Hi Yannig,

the coax was 3m long, made of RG174 cable. So, may be this is the culprit. I had another 4m long hyper flex cable, but I did not tried it unfortunately. Yes, I can try to add a counterpoise, and see if this disappears. Hope it will, because QMX was again a joy to operate.

Thanks.

Any other suggestion, folks?

Re: OCX-Mini & Straight Keys

Hi Dan

Use of a mono plug IS supported. QCX/QMX transceivers do not require a stereo plug for the key.

Of course a mono plug shorts the "ring" connection to ground. But this is solved by setting the Straight key mode parameter to "tip" only, so the system will then ignore the "ring" which is permanently grounded by the mono plug.?

Glenn,
You need two things.?

One- set the QCX for straight key mode and tip for straight key. See the operating manual.

Two- you need to use a STEREO plug, but you only connect the key to TIP and SLEEVE. Do not connect anything to the middle RING terminal. And don't use a mono plug.?

Izmir, Turkey via QMX #qmx #ft8

I finally got TA on a digital mode today with 4 watts on 20m, 3el yagi and my 20-10 QMX.

TA3NE is located in IZMIR, the famous trailhead for Hans' FedEx packages! Pretty close to home Hans. As you can see my QMX was booming in with a -24dB report.

Re: QMX Digital Modes Bug

Testing with FT8CN and AndFlmsg was successful.
Further testing with FLDigi and FLRig with QMX in VOX mode, The brief transmit burst then unkey continues, If i disable PTT in FLRig then the VOX PTT is successful and CAT frequency, Mode and RF gain is functional.

Conclusion: There appears to be a conflict between the VOX PTT and CAT PTT, even when VOX it turned off.

Also noticed that the "Minimum Cycles" setting ( in Main Menu/ Configuration/ Digi Interface ) keeps jumping around. It was set at 1 now it shows 131074
