Re: Customs clearance
Hans, DHL Express is anything but, they should be called DHL Slow Boat. Zero customer service, broken promises, no one knows anything about anything, constant calls to different offices. My item shipped from China on 11/25, hit the Cincinnati hub on 12/2 and has been MIA ever since. Re: Customs clearance
Hi Hans, We actually do have customs clearance here in the States. It¡¯s handled by each carrier like FedEx, DHL, etc, at their major import hubs. I know because I¡¯m suffering through it right now. I have a computer that was stuck in customs clearance in Cincinnati OH for 6 days before I complained. DHL referred me back to Apple whose broker seems to be sleeping on the job lately. Apple got it cleared the next day but it¡¯s still stuck in Cincinnati for the past week because DHL is overloaded with holiday packages at their hub. No delivery date has been given, they won¡¯t ship it to my local hub, and Apple is considering cancelling my order and starting over again. I can¡¯t even get an Amazon Prime shipment delivered right now. Tony - AC9QY On Wed, Dec 13, 2023 at 10:59?AM Hans Summers <hans.summers@...> wrote:

Re: QMX Continuity Check - Failed
Jim Rusert
I rebuilt the transformer and on it's own, it checks out per the instructions. Reinstalled and I get the similar reading of just under 600 ohms between A and B as circled in the picture. (Different fault than the first time I posted.) All of my installed components look correct to me and I can't see anything that looks like a short on the PCB.

Re: Customs clearance
Hi Chuck Ok fine... some brief formalities..? But still nobody in US ever has to go through the tortures that Europeans go through, or the hell that Turks go through...? Either way look up North Jackson OH on the map. It's hard to imagine there being a customs processing facility there. I'm sure FedEx just got themselves in some kind of unrelated twist and someone just selected any old status message from a list and it has no relation to the actual situation.? Keith... Out of interest, did they say what the reason for the delay was? These days I vote DHL Express! 73 Hans G0UPL On Wed, Dec 13, 2023, 10:56?PM Chuck Moore via <wd4hxg=[email protected]> wrote:

Hi Hans, it is now that I had a moment to install the firmware. I think the ¡°bubbling¡± tone has clearly improved and doesn¡¯t disturb. Yet, if you turn down the side tone to 0 and you press the key, you will hear no side tone but in the background the bubbling I mention. Now is clearly better, yet not fully gone. May be this can not be removed!! As said, now is not annoying.
thanks Hans for a great work and costumer service!! 73 joan |
Hi Adrian That would always have been the case, I'll need to fix that.? 73 Hans G0UPL On Wed, Dec 13, 2023, 11:34?PM Adrian YO3GFH via <p_adr=[email protected]> wrote: Thanks for the update, Hans. Thanks for the update, Hans. Been fiddling with it for about 2 hours now, and it doesn't seem to exhibit anything game-breaking :-)
However, while configuring a few preset messages, I accidentally discovered that, while the keyer does not work in digi mode, the presets sending feature seem to do, and it even honors the practice mode. Is that normal? In all honesty, haven't check with some older firmware, to see if it's something new to .014 Thanks again and gn! 73, YO3GFH op. Adrian |
Re: Customs clearance
Hans? I beg to differ with you. About 15% of the time inbound international shipments? addressed to me languish anywhere from 1 to 10 days in Customs. The typical point of entry for my packages is New York.? Sometimes Canada.? Tracking services usually display "Awaiting Customs" when the package is held. As much as I wish we were exempt from customs holding shipments, it occurs.? Perhaps there are exceptions, but if so I am a frequent flyer. Regards Chuck WD4HXG

Re: QMX - all RF filter sweeps bad, no continuity from IC402 to T401
Just as an end to this, in case anyone does a search, gets the same symptoms, and wonders how it went: Turns out I also had a tiny solder bridge between ground on the BNC socket, and the hole for RF on a SMA connector. Fixed that, messed with Win11/WSJT settings a few times, disabled something called "allow an application to take exclusive control" buried deep in a config screen, that might have been critical, and made my first QSO (1400 miles with a garden fence EFHW at R-10, so it's not pulling any punches...). I'll put the case back on, and do a proper check over all the various bands/etc, a little later, but for now, success!? Thanks to Evan, Steve, Hans, and the community. Been building myself up to this project for a couple of months, and I'm well chuffed now! 73 Tom? M7EUT On Mon, Dec 11, 2023 at 10:29?PM Tom Garnett via <garnett.tom=[email protected]> wrote:

Thanks, Hans!
This is a HUGE improvement. I was able to get the SWR protection to trip once into a dummy load (in about 10 minutes of messing around). So I wonder if more fine tuning could be needed there. Also, the encoders still don't behave perfectly. In particular, the first click counterclockwise often has no effect. 73, Mike KK7ER |
