Re: QCX & Ant Tuning
I use a QMX+ (not a QCX, but the problem is the same) and a loop antenna. After changing frequency / band the SWR rises to 1:20 and more. Tuning for loudest signal brings the SWR not always below 1:3,

Re: QMX+ QLG3 clock 17 seconds fast
These 17 seconds looks like the difference between UTC and GNSS-time. More explanation: https://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/90839/what-are-satellite-time-gps-time-and-utc-time 73, Wolfgang

Selling value of QCX+ #20m #qcx
My shack is getting crowded so Im considering selling my QCX+ 20 meter. I would like some input as to what would be a fair price. Put in the qrp-labs enclosure. FW is T1.09a, I never updated it.?

Re: My QMX + Sidelined by Flaky PCM1804
Bill, TI is still shipping Burr Brown devices. They¡¯re excellent performers but BB devices are power hogs. As with all semiconductor vendors, to remain competitive, TI must move to smaller

Re: QMX/QMX+ T507 Winding Sense
I have to agree. I scrape to bright copper, solder at 370C, when it flows hold it to count of five. Then remove heat and let it cool. I am very new and my QMX worked first time. Take the separate

Re: QLG2 with QMX+ Poor Sensitivity
Hi Hans, I agree about RF noise impacting the active antenna. I¡¯ve noticed this with my PC radiating DC to blue light. Turning off the monstrosity definitely improves things. I¡¯ve had both the

Re: QMX+ JUST WON'T WORK
Dear Ludwig, thanks for the hints.?? I will work my way through them and let you know what I find.? Sorry I have been gone for a few days and wasn't able to answer earlier.?? Thanks to the others

QMX+ QLG3 clock 17 seconds fast
Here's a problem I can't find mentioned elsewhere. Briefly, when I switch on the QMX+, despite having the QLG connected, the clock is seventeen seconds fast. Sometimes, having shown the correct time,

Re: My QMX + Sidelined by Flaky PCM1804
Who knows TI's precise motivation for replacing the PCM1804?? It wasn't their product in the first place, but a tagalong in the B&B merger. Admittedly 20 years seems a long time, but as a wise mentor

QLG3 Antenna Mounting?
Hi all - I put the QLG3 option in my QMX+ when I built it last month and it seems to be working OK. I normally have about five sats locked in, but it is seeing many more. I think I'd get better

Re: QMX/QMX+ T507 Winding Sense
I agree completely. Makes no difference with binocular T507. The BIG difference is whether it works or not and that is related to solder joints. My second try with QMX was prettier and it worked! My

Re: QLG2 with QMX+ Poor Sensitivity
Hi Tony I think that most probably a QLG2 has better sensitivity because of the LNA in the QLG2 active antenna patch. However that also means it has a lower IP3, so in some circumstances it may have

Re: QLG2 with QMX+ Poor Sensitivity
Dan, Hans¡¯s write up on the QLG1 indicates the large ground plane under the patch antenna contributes to its excellent sensitivity. I think you¡¯re on the right track with trying a ground plane

Re: My QMX + Sidelined by Flaky PCM1804
I agree with Dirk¡¯s assessment. Twenty years is a long time for a semiconductor to be on the market so TI is gently pushing customers toward newer devices. I found no reliable reports of the PCM1804

Thanks for the replies Mike, Chris and Bob. Well said Chris. Bob, in my testing it made no difference which way they were wound. I even tried "jumble" winding one of the windings so it had no

Re: QMX/QMX+ T507 Winding Sense
Do you have any photos or diagrams showing what the incorrect winding scheme you had looks like. I realise that a number of people are concerned that it isn't clear how the T507 transformers are wound

The square wave actually is better. The original crystal spec is (desired freq)-10.7 (IF) /3 (third overtone) Square wave means that there is usable energy at the harmonic. Larry KB3CUF

can also confirm this : entering the RIT menu for the first time after the update I was able to do steps of 10Hz. hope it will be fixed very(!) fast.
