Re: Help Make Sense of My QMX RF And Audio Sweeps?
The sweeps in this post look pretty representative:

Re: Help Make Sense of My QMX RF And Audio Sweeps?
Thank you both, I will go through and perform those checks.
Is there anywhere I can go to see what these sweeps should look like for the QMX? It would be nice to have at least from a knowledge perspective as at the moment I am going solely based off of a photo in the QDX manual. |
Re: Help Make Sense of My QMX RF And Audio Sweeps?
Chris, I agree with Evan and suggest you also check the connections at T507 and verify that C526 has not been damaged. Why? It is a bit troubling that you saw no change in the sweeps for 80/60/40 when you connected the dummy load. It is as if there is a second fault and no connection to the load exists. JZ KJ4A? Re: Help Make Sense of My QMX RF And Audio Sweeps?
Chris,
I would look at the LPF for 30/20 meters (The filter is shared between these bands).? I would suspect that one of the toroids has an open connection.? Maybe try reflowing the connections.? The sweep signal must pass through the LPF to reach the receiver circuits. The others have enough gain to work, so messing with them is unnecessary. 73 Evan AC9TU |
Re: Help Make Sense of My QMX RF And Audio Sweeps?
Hi all, Only in the 60m and 40m band RF sweeps are the signals strong in what should be their passpands, relative to the values shown in graphs for other bands. This lines up with our findings in the audio sweeps, which look roughly correct for both 60m and 40m, but are significantly attenuated for all other bands. Assuming that the generated signal first passes through the respective band's bandpass filter before the detection is done in both the RF and audio sweeps, this makes sense. |
Re: Help Make Sense of My QMX RF And Audio Sweeps?
Thank you Mike! I will give that a shot and come back here to see if that has any impact.
If there is anyone else with an idea of what might be going on, please feel free to chime in as I am not yet familiar with the QMX's internal circuitry. 73, -Chris VA3XCL |

Thanks for the info! I missed indeed setting for checksum in the info check! 73 Pa3 AAW / Hans Op 29 jul. 2023, om 20:43 heeft Alan G4ZFQ <alan4alan@...> het volgende geschreven: |
Re: QCX+ display has a text box missing the left column of dots
Looks like a bad display to me. It¡¯s fine to go ahead and do the alignment. It won¡¯t be affected by this, other than one column of the resulting bar graphs during alignment won¡¯t be there. But it shouldn¡¯t be any harder to interpret than what you are seeing now. Good luck Ron On Sat, Jul 29, 2023 at 14:21 Tom Meyer <tmeyerabc@...> wrote: I have finished a 20 and a 40 QCX+ and am in the setup stage process with both. I have issues with the setup but that is for another thread. One of the front panels when I fired it the 7th column of text blocks is missing the left edge column of dots on both the top and bottom line. I have interchanged the two front panels with the two main PCBs and the results confirm it is the front panel as it does it on both main PCBs and the other front is fine on both. I can "read" the front panel and so far have not had an issue where the missing dot column caused problems. Is this an issue or should I just not worry about it and go about trying to get both of the setups resolved? |
