Re: QCX high current first start up;
Alan, Yup. IC5 is backwards. I will remove. Is it likely to be blown? Thanks. John

Re: Testing replaced transistors
By the way the transistors I used for replacement were the real deal from Mousers. Jess

Re: 40M QCX problem uponpower up
I tried a different set of headphones even though the ones I was using are 32 ohms, no difference.? Tried adjusting the trimmers and while there was some attenuation when I adjusted R24 the tone was

Re: QCX Box #qcx
Hi Jose, A short version of the case with "QCX 20m" would be great. I tried to edit the files myself, but didn't get very far ;-) Steve G0KYA

Re: #U3S troubleshooting #u3s
Hi Alan - we tried the well used 30m band. But I had now the idea to check the transmission with the WSJT-X Software connected to the K3 - RX. So we¡®re able to check the Signal in the band window

Re: U3S Antenna Coax Connection
John I have used RG174 in the past in other projects BUT an eminent experimenter here in VK uses fine shielded speaker cable for short runs, cheap and suitable for short RF connections I have used it

Re: U3S Antenna Coax Connection
Hi John,? I just used a scrap piece of rg58, to be honest though you could just use two pieces of PVC hook up wire for the short distance that's needed.? Andy

Re: U3S Antenna Coax Connection
John, That sums it up, a few inches of the worst 50 ohm cable will make no difference at HF. Maybe ideal is the thinnest. 73 Alan G4ZFQ

U3S Antenna Coax Connection
Hello, I just finished building the U3S kit I was working on a bit ahead of schedule. I am still very new to building radios and one silly thing I struggle with is connectors/jacks/switches and how to

Re: 40M QCX problem uponpower up
Hi Bill Try turning R17 and R24 trimmers. I had one case, where R17 was all the way at one end of its travel, and therefore zero ohms. So IC5B had its output loaded with a 10nF capacitor to ground.

Re: 40M QCX problem uponpower up
Sounds like monster audio feedback. What kind of headphones preparedness you using? You should be using the the ohm specd in the manual. 32ohms? Not sure. Mine would do the same thing until I used the

Hi Mario, Thank's for the information. I always think twice before I suggest replacing a part where you cant prove it's faulty by some means, but I think? you may be at that point. (You are 101%

Re: QCX high current first start up;
John, This is puzzling, 2 amps will not pass through much without instantly blowing it. 4.9K means it is not directly shorted but going through a component. Are IC5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 the correct way

Alan, 4.9K after D3. Disconnecting L4 does not do the trick. (I found a cap not soldered one side, but fixing this did nothing of course.) John K1ym
