I'm stymied....
After building my kit I very quickly put it on Ft8 to check it out. It received apparently ok. With pskrporter I saw my transmissions registered all over north America. I then plugged in a head set and heard Nothing. Tried a second headset still nothing. Switched the CW keyer to practice mode, no audio. If I use a cw key and put a power meter on when I key the paddle I get about 4 watts out.
There is a click when I power up and power down, but when on receive or during CW practice mode there is just no audio what so ever.? I've looked over the board with a loupe at least 20 times. My soldering isn't professional but I don't see any missing smd parts, broken smd parts, or really bad solder joints. I've attacked an image incase someone knows an obvious location to look.? Any help in where I could look next for trouble shooting would be greatly appreciated.? 73, Don KC9ZMY |

Another QMX Takes to the Air
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý<<...>> <<...>> Greetings all, My QMX has been complete for a while, but I¡¯ve been traveling and only had a chance to put it on the air for the first time today.? First contact was on FT8? with HI3K at a distance of? 1200 miles using 4.5 Watts into a non-resonant? dipole in my attic.? It was a fun kit to build!? Looking forward to more FT8 and CW fun! Great job, Hans! 73, Mike WM4B |
Re: QMX - smoke - another C107/Q108 failure
I have worked on about 20 different QMX rigs for fellow hams. ?I made up a set of linear regulated ?PS boards for this kind of testing. ?3.3V from the existing linear regulator and 5V from a bench supply (fed from a hacked and burned up SMPS board) that I can control and measure the current. ?Feeding the ADC_ lines as well. ?This all works well and is very helpful in isolating problems and quickly confirming the main circuitry. ?One of my best tools.

QMX - intermittent power up
When I plugged in QMX (built for 12V) and pushed left encoder, nothing happened (power set at 7V/200ma limit). Pushed it a few more times, and power did come on at 165ma, but then went off. Tried several more times and got it to go on intermittently, but it wouldn't stay on, only a few seconds.??
Touched up the left encoder soldering as well as 2X4 pin control board header, thinking that was the problem. Also removed and touched up the 2x4 and 2X3 female pins on both sides of the power supply board. Checked for continuity on 2x4 male header on control board to the main board and it was okay (I had to remove the 2X4 female header during construction since it wasn't straight and repositioned it, so I? thought maybe an issue with the female header.) Now I am not getting it to go on intermittently as earlier.?? What's next to try? Phil, K3UT |

Re: QMX where can I find the future
#qmx
The software is still very much at an alpha stage. There are quite a few usability bugs to sort out. Soon, I am sure the big features will be ready. I haven¡¯t been planning on SSB till next spring. I can QSO in CW and all single tone digital now. Hans has mentioned he has bugs, goals and hopefully ¡°reach goals¡± to work on. The goals include enabling the SWR meter and implementing high SWR power reduction. I am not sure if SSB is a goal or a reach goal. ?
