I've just returned from a 9 day trip to the Caribbean island of St Martin where I operated as FS/VA3ZC. My station consisted of my new QDX High band, a small battery, laptop, vertical dipole and antenna analyser. I operated FT8/FT4 on 10m, 12m and 15m.

I believe I get about 3 watts of RF out of this rig. I didn't know what to expect but in the end this little radio far exceeded my expectations.

I logged 1,450 QSOs and worked 60 countries. Total DX miles is 4,165,388, averaging 2,873 miles per QSO or about 960 miles per watt.

Highlights include a QSO with Australia, 4 with New Zealand and 64 with Japan. Grey line propagation was very interesting.

Hans, thank you for designing and manufacturing this fantastic little radio. It easily provides the most bang for the buck of any rig I've ever owned.

Postscript: When I got home and was unpacking I noticed a rattle from the QDX. I opened it up and a small piece of plastic fell out. It turned out to be part of the housing of one of the power transistors. Perhaps it was cracked by thermal expansion against the washer that holds them down. I plugged it in and it is still producing 3 watts. I'll replace the transistor at some point.
