I wish I could sleep at 4:30 AM but my body has been waking me up at that time since high school. ?That was the only time in my home (life) that other folks and ¡°things¡± were quiet and no bothers. ?Also I could study better in college and Med school early. ?Then work. ?So in retirement the old pattern in my body still is on the old clock. ?I really love it as it¡¯s so quiet and I can get a lot done before my wife wakes up. ?Bad part is I get the nods at 9:00 PM but have little pills for that if we are out socially. ?The sleep lab doc couldn¡¯t believe how fast I could go back to sleep so he kept me the next morning for additional tests. ?Thus the Rx for the little white pills. ?Only had insomnia twice in my life and that was under extreme duress when changing jobs. ?

And if I go back to sleep I sleep harder and wake up with a headache. But the CW bands are really nice, clear, slow, and I meet many very congenial fellows. ?

I feel the same way. I still get up at 4:30 every morning and read emails and watch YT videos and learn something. ?And if I am lucky my wife allows me time to go down to the shack and experiment with what I learned¡­. Ha! ?Today collected a few straight keys and paddles to lend to a 52 year old new ham as he is very interested in CW and QRP portable operation like I am¡­. He used to mow my lawn when he was 16. ?He never forgot the ham radio and SWL experiences I showed him back then¡­¡­ he is now addicted to radio and electronics¡­.. be careful who you show your ham radio hobby to. ?They might ¡°see the light¡± someday ¡­.. ha!

Also 4:30 AM is a great time to wind toroids. ?No interference¡­¡­
