I just completed my QDX and am operating it on a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ which is what I intend to do my portable work with. After doing a firmware update I launched minicom and ran through the serial interface commands and everything seems to be spot on to the Ops manual.?
However when configuring WSJTX according to the instructions there, I got no green on the CAT command. Confirmed audio, rig and port settings, changed them, got error messages and changed them back and got no errors to confirm that they were correct.
I am routing my antenna through a QRP-Guys SWR meter and doing TX tests on the various bands I got various SWR and power readings showing that there was transmission going on. However the waterfall in WSJTX shows no reception at all. To confirm that my antenna was not faulty I fired up my QCX Mini and immediately heard signals (albeit CW) on 40 meters so no problem there. But on all bands on the QDX there was silence as in no waterfall (even static!).
So I am left with the question of is it WSJTX setup, or other configurations? Or something in the receive block chain in which case I have no idea where to start.
BTW - of course after building many (!) kits I went back over my solder joints and especially the one noted in the v. 3a notes for C41 where the trace needs to be cut and everything looks good. During the build I did discover a short between the D1 and the inductor but looking at the schematic noticed that they are connected there anyway. That was the only anomaly in my soldering during the build and was discovered before power was applied.
Again it seems if anything really serious was wrong then I don't think that the serial program would have responded positively nor the TX test been positive. The no green on CAT test is also puzzling.
I have never done any FT8 J-anything but willing to give it a try. I really plan to RTTY with FLDigi but starting where the most documentation is first.
