I run my QDX at 9v (actually 8.87v) using a 65W Dell USB-C laptop power supply and PD trigger. It's a quiet and cool solution. I took the Memorial day holiday weekend to build it. The build went smoothly, and everything worked when I turned it on, though
I tested it with a 9v alkaline battery first. There were some issues with WSJT-X initially, and it wouldn't transmit a tune signal. I tried it in the terminal command and it sent a nice clean signal at 5w out. Then, after a reboot of both the QDX and software,
it began working in WSJT-X. Sometimes, the tune signal still gives me a problem with a low power out, or a noisy signal. Then it will clear up the next time. Not sure why, but the regular transmit signal seems stable, albeit with a intermittent popping noise
that doesn't seem to prohibit the receiving station decoding.? My antenna is a window line fed balanced dipole that tunes well on all bands with an MFJ-949E manual tuner. My first JS8Call QSO with it was on 20 meters with IU6HWW, Luciano, at a distance of
6,971 Km!
