Hi Roger? Since the original telemetry experiments, telemetry now looks at 0, 1 and Q as a leading characters for the telemetry callsign In addition all wspr rx receivers have to be frequency corrected to accurately reveal 4 separate 40hz wide bands in the 200 hz wide wspr band. The receiver frequency correction results can be seen here? There are 3 types of telemetry that can be sent by the U4B , the original ,? a pair of 6 digit numbers? and a string of letters and numbers. I understand when Hans gets some time, he will publish how it all goes together, but in response to your question I believe the telemetry channel can be derived from just the received spot, it's corrected frequency, and it's timing relationship to the preceding original wspr spot.
